Proof STS and rear mounted turbos work

I'm #407 9 psi in 1st, 11psi in 2nd - 3rd, 13psi in 4th, i need a stronger spring.
90 degrees that night

2000 SS
224/224/112 .567 cam, ls6 intake, slp long tubes, t67, nitto drag radials at 24 psi, 50/50 water meth. In other words the car was the exact way I drove it on the street. 100% street car (i now run 17" et streets, so it's a small compromise to a street car now).

That car should do about 116 - 117 on motor, right?

I wish! It's previous owner had a best trap of 107 mph motor only with all mods except the turbo related stuff.

I'm in las vegas, on a good day at a sea level track it would probably do around 112.

N/A cars don't run well in vegas. There is a a4 427 LS1 stroker here, his best trap is a 119. A built M6 408 with a huge cam 600+ lift 240 duration size cam has only trapped a best of 122. Spray and boost are the best solutions around here.

The previous owner did get the car to trap 117 without an intercooler or meth on 6-7 psi.

Sweet times man. My friend ran 11.7 @ 122 with a stock LS1 with a 150 shot and exhaust. Congrats on those numbers.

Do you know anything about elevation? Must be nice running high elevens at sea level.

Let me correct your friends times to las vegas times...

11.7@ 122 = 12.3 @ 117 On a decent day.

One of the downsides to living and racing in las vegas is your average joe just isn't knowledgable or smart enough to understand the effects of heat and altitude when you post times.

A stock LS1 only traps 100 mph, i'm 24-26 mph higher than I also don't have to fill a bottle and I'm still faster than him

Ok, so in other words, you're only doing what a stock LS1 would do with a lot more money invested. Good job, thumbs up.

not bad for an LT1.You should trap higher but i imagine the elevation sucks though.I saw you over on LS1tech in that war flame post about the STS kits, you feel the need to vent?

Heh, where have you been? Maybe they do in Vegas. Here, automatics usually trap 103-105.

I consider an LS1 with exhaust and a little nitrous "stock".

But anywho, LT1 > LS1.

no offense so dont take it wrong but who cares if you trap 120+ and a stock LS1 traps a 107 if he beats you by 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile?

Regarding the times being affected by heat and altitude, Zombie is right.

My friends went to Houston and ran, a good bit quicker than they did in Amarillo (even though it's still the same state). This is because the Houston track is like 500 ft altitude, while Amarillo is 3700 ft. You can't judge a car in Nevada by your times in Florida.

Either way, look at his "adjusted times". That's still pretty bad in my book. But if you're happy with mediocre, then more power to ya.

I'm done expressing my opinions.

Not sure what you mean by adjusted, the slip is posted right there. Running the car at a sea level track would net me another 4-5 mph and .3-.4 et on the same 60'. I don't think thats too bad for a stock bottom end LS1. I'm only making about 250 more rwhp (sae corrected of course) than a stock ls1.

My dyno on 10psi was 507 rwhp, uncorrected it was 460.
As far as I know i'm the highest trapping LS1 in las vegas right now.

P.S.

('00 Z28 A4): 11.967 @ 113.35 [1.709 60'] <-- stock car with a 100 shot
('99 Z28 A4): 11.329 @ 119.61 [1.613 60'] <-- 427 LS1
('98 SS M6): 12.783 @ 110.82 [2.071 60'] <-- heads, cam, long tubes
(00 WS6 M6): 13.009 @114.28mph [2.21 60'] <-- heads, cam, 370, 11:1 comp
('00 SS A4):13.925@100.30 : [2.170 60'] <-- lid, cut out

Hope that gives some people some insite what it's like here.

My ET's will improve when i put an auto in it. Until then, i'm a Domestic supra.. wanna go from a 65mph roll? LOL

Re: Proof STS and rear mounted turbos work

Nice times, and a better 60' would help the ET even more. 120+ is a good mph. Nitrous and boost are two different animals IMOA. Most of the time having an FI car is to have the power all the time, and nitrous is a cheaper way to have the power sometimes.
Who is to say "mediocre".
