Problems with headers on STS Turbo setup
Is there a general problem with the STS turbo in combination with headers ? Would the increased exhaust pressure make header leaks even more possible ?
I've read a post where somebody recomended NOT to install pace setter LT's cause they will crack.
I spent high $ on my AS&M-Mids and would hate it if I had to remove them, since they are already on the car.
I know headers won't show any real gain on the STS, but is it possible to use them without having problems (leaks)?
Thanks,
Alex

Re: Problems with headers on STS Turbo setup
Get the flanges on the headers machined flat. That will go a long way towards curing header leaks. If you feel like pulling the heads, have the exhaust ports machined flat as well, although the heads are usually pretty flat already.
Lots of header companies claim they use an "O-ring" seal to help compress the gasket. That's a lot of marketing BS. That little raised ring is a weld bead from a robotic mig welder - it's nowhere near flat or level. Just have it ground off.

I've seen a webpage where an LT1 had headers and they put the kit on. Just make sure you have no leaks to begin with thats all.
Contact the vendor directly - however I truly don't think there will be a problem, nor gain, to having the headers with this setup. Unless of course you have leaks already!
