Piston Rings For Turbo
Piston Rings For Turbo
So nobody on here will give me their .02 on what rings work well? Like I said before, I have heard good and bad things about hellfire rings, and would like to hear some personal experience, good and bad. Anything. Thanks
Re: Piston Rings For Turbo
I went with JE pistons and plasma molly rings that normally come with the pistons. I was going to go with the Hellfire, but couldn't get them in time, but later heard they could cause (more than normal) piston wall wear because of the harder material. Not sure how true that is.

Is it a race car or street car? The reason I ask, is because from what I hear about certain types of "racier" rings for high boost and nitrous motors is that they seal very good but are hard on the bore (wear faster). Quite a few people have said this.
Like the first reply says, hellfire rings seal goood it seems, but I think they are among those that I see guys recomending for race or limited street cars because of how they wear the bore, and will probably result in more frequent rebuilds. I am not sure, but again, I think the hellfires were the ones that people say seal great but cause faster wear.
From the replies I have seen from turbo , nitrous , or blower guys....................
Hellfire = + Great seal
- Faster wear
I imagine someone could fill you in more.

Re: Piston Rings For Turbo
First, thanks for the responses. My car is going to be making around 900rwhp and will be used 50/50 street&strip. Granted it will not be driven very often. I am thinking about 10-13psi on the street and up to 22psi at the track(race gas of course). I dont want to deal with frequent tear downs, although even with an aggressive ring I dont think it will ever see that because of the fact that I will rarely ever drive the thing regularly. I think Im gonna go with the hellfires. Thanks for all of your advice. I appreciate it!
