Re: Picture of my dual walbro setup

If you take a close look at xxxsaintxxx's picture you can see a close up of how the flex tube is attached to the y-block. It looks like a metal band clamp.

Yes, I see that, but how is the Y block attached to the metal feed tube?

It's just a brass compression fitting for 3/8" OD tube. You can pick one up for a couple bucks at your local home depot... In fact, there's only about $10-12 in fittings in the tank there.

One thing they did right was to chop off the end of that feed tube first. The first half inch of the feed line is only 5/16" OD.

I think I may make this mod to mine. It looks like it would fit in the tank easier. Also that flex hose will last forever as opposed to rubber intank hose.

OK, here it is. The final iteration of my dual fuel pump. Complete with a Pave hermetically sealed bulkhead connector, dual flex hoses, and brass T fittings. The rubber lines were chaffing on my initial setup. I don't know if they would have eventually ruptured but I wasn't taking the chance on being stranded somewhere.

I am... There's no problem as long as you have a big enough regulator to handle the flow... If you run dual pumps on the stock regulator, the fuel pressure will creep up when not using a lot of fuel.

Running two pumps all the time will heat the fuel up as well.

yeah, but not as much as you think... The fuel gets heated more by picking up heat in the rails (engine heat) and bringing that back to the tank.

I do keep my tank over half full all the time, but that's to aid traction more than anything else.

He has a point. It doesn't take much to rewire that thing. The boost switch is very inexpensive and comes on at about 5 psi instead of all the time.

I did it two ways and both worked well.

1. Nylon bolt and nut with a hole through the bolt sealed with Proseal.
2. Hermetically sealed fitting with O ring from Pave Technology.

Number 1 is cheaper.

Another update. I pulled out my walbro setup and did some tweaking and inspection(and tightened the band clamps). Afterward, one of the pumps on my setup was not holding pressure under load. I tracked it down to the clamps that hold the pumps to the fuel pump assembly.

If you tighten the band clamps too much it will restrict flow from the pumps. Also it is best to move the band clamps to the top of pumps. Band clamps around the bottom of the pump are more restrictive than band clamps at the top of the pump. I found this out by testing the fuel pressure with the clamps in different locations. The ultimate setup would be to get rid of all the band clamps and have a plastic holder of some sort.
