I finally got around to disassembly of the 1st Shortblock I blew. Here's some pics of the broken ringlands/etc. All said and done I had 4 broken Pistons. #1, 3, 4, and 7 were all toast due to knock/detonation. I was pretty amazed at how well they held together, and how well the car ran in spite of this damage. Out of the 4 broken pistons there was only 1 or 2 broken rings.






I have yet to do a cyl leak down test on the second shortblock I blew (the one I'm currently driving on) to see how many dead slugs there are, but after finding 4 in this one...I wouldn't be surprised if I broke 3 or 4 again.

Stock LT1 pistons suck!!

Do not nitrous or blower them, they will eventually fail as most everyone on this board knows by now.

Forged are way stronger, it's not even close.

Been there done that.
