PCV/CCV installation error!
PCV/CCV installation error!
Tracing out my wiring problems, as well as some other problems. Once I had most of the inlet piping taken off I got a good look at the install, which I had already determined to be fairly shoddy. The installers just spliced the O2's instead of using extensions for the long tubes, zip ties EVERYwhere, and THEN:
The passenger valve cover breather tube was routed over towards my air inlet. I was assuming I would follow it down to near the air intake (where hopefully there would always be some suction), but instead it teed into another hose below the intake elbow (where the factory airbox is). Following THAT line led me to the PCV valve!!! I'm wondering what kinds of problems this could have been causing? I have slight oil/air exiting my breather filter installed where the oil cap used to be.
Additionally, off the main topic, I need to reconnect my oil pump suction tube (fell off, can hear it bounce in the oil pan when empty)... I've looked at the oil pan removal instructions that some people have posted, but I'm wondering what you guys think is the best lifting point for the engine?
Thanks,
Jonota

Basically that just sealed up the crankcase. Any blow-by would pressurize the crankcase and blow out seals (crank snout, oil pan, rear main, etc) and start seeping oil.
For a lift point, are you lifting from the top with a cherry picker? I prefer to use the happy hooker from TPiS and just bolt it to the top of the intake. If you don't have something like that, you can thread 3/8 bolts through a chain into a head in front and into the block where the bell housing bolts on the opposite side in the back and lift using that chain.
