p1sc need help
Hey guys I have my procharger installed and I dont think the car runs right. I ran a 14.10 with my g-tech on street tires. I live at 5300' altitude and see 6psi at 6100 rpm I just expected the car to be faster than it is with my mods. The car runs pretty good if I get in it and let it warm up for just a couple of minutes untill it warms up. I dont know if this is normal or not I have no one around here with a blower to compare with. I still need to install my fuel pump and spark plugs I bought some bosch super HR8DCX plugs but havent installed them yet because i dont know how well they will work. My main mods are a P1SC, 42#injectors, OBD1 conversion, edelbrock shortys, Granatelli MAF alky and h20 injection ( wich barely comes on at 5.5psi) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

have you tuned the car? With those injectors and no tune it should run like garbage, make sure you at least get mail order tune on that car before driving it under boost. put some ngk tr6 or autolite 104 plugs in the car too. use a scan tool to monitor o2 values and to check for kr. there's a lot more but thats just to get you started.
1. Get the fuel pump in! You risk blowing your motor!
2. Get the car tuned with a qualified guy and a laptop on a wideband with a dyno! You risk blowing your motor!
3. Get rid of the alky! It's just a crutch, and you don't need it if your tuner knows what he's doing!
What'd you run before the mods?
This blower is more than capable of putting a stock LT1 into the 11's- with the right supporting combo, tuning, and altitude.
After my gear swap on a 28" tall slick, I expect to be in the 12.40 @ 115 neighborhood with a stock converter... especially after the 12.6@113 the car went last weekend. My car w/ long tubes and P1 made 410-414rwhp and 420-422rwtq on 6 psi. The charger rules!!

thanks for the help
Thanks for the posts!
I have a mail order tune from MadZ28 Ion Soltan the car runs very well (no problems) just slow lol. I am loosing fuel pressure at WOT from about 3500 up it starts about 46 psi and the lowes i have seen is 34 just as i am going to shift. You guys dont suggest running the bosch plugs? I have tunercat and freescan for software but no laptop yet
I have hooked the car up to a PC in the garage just to check it out . as far as the alky/h20 it comes on so late it doesnt mater yet anyway. I will install my fuel pump this weekend and change the plugs. any more ideas would be great
Thanks
Shawn

I made my figures in Mississauga, Ontario, at Pro Tech. I have no clue what the altitude is, but I am sure you can find it somewhere online.
Don't forget- my power comes from hardcore tuning. It took a lot of runs to fix a lot of bugs, so Vince could pop a great tune in there. Stock, the torque curve and the HP curve look kinda like an "X". After I got it tuned- my torque curve is dead flat. 400+ft/lbs from 3500-5700.
BTW- if you have a good tuner (not mailorder), your 42#'s should allow you to rid yourself of that FMU.
Later!

Shawn,
I don't recall doing tuning for you, so it must've been a while ago, although the 97 Z and the p1sc sounds very familiar.
Anyway, I always try to be conservative on forced induction tunes and let my customers know that it's pretty much a "safe" tune, as opposed to "get the most power out of it" tune. The reason for that is, FI cars are pretty hard to tune in person, not to mention remotely...
The best thing to do is to at least get some air/fuel ratio readings on a wideband dyno and send them to me along with the PCM for some adjustments. Or like Steve said, you could get some local dyno tuning done.. and you definetely need to get rid of that FMU, and the fuel delivery problem.

You did a great job with the tune! I understand it is a starting place for me I am very happy with your service and product! I ordered a OBD1 conversion from you in like July or so. I am sorry if it sounded like I was complaining. I never installed the FMU I didn’t think I needed to with the 42# injectors. I don’t know of anywhere around here with a wideband O2 but I am going to try to find someplace. in the mean time hopefully the fuel pump and spark plugs will help
Thanks guys
Shawn
