On an 8lb Ati kit. What's goin on. I have only about 150 miles on the car since install. Also I'm seeing a cooling problem. I put in the 160 stat and programmed it with the hypercrap. Whenever there is boost the gauge just keeps climbing. If I come to a complete stop, I can watch the gauge drop as it cools.
Did you plug the hole underneath the TB where the PCV pipe goes? Need to put a 5/8th brass plug in there.
Ask me how I know.
Make sure your fans are not fouling the shroud? Again, ask me how I know.
Cost $300 plus USD to get the burnt motor replaced.

I'm also going to change the plugs to a cooler range. 104's. Can the stock computer be pushing too much timing? I have the BTM but haven't installed it yet. My install guy says he has the car running really rich until we can dyno tune.

It seems on the boost the gauge rises up to 240. If I continue driving the car it will overheat. Of course I haven't done that. I come down to either the plugs, detonation, bad design by ATI, or maybe my radiator isn't getting enough air. If it's beyond that I'm screwed.
i would speculate it is the fans not going on.
Check all the fuses. Check the two relays in the fuse box under the hood. Make sure they are not burnt.
To check the relays, turn the key to ON and turn the air conditioning on OR the the de-fogger. I believe this SHOULD turn the fans on. Check the relays and fans. If the relays get hot OR you feel a ticking / pulsing then the fans are not working and the motor is binding.
Obviously you have good thermostat in there?

Yes on the stat. It was good before the S/C install, and since the problem started I installed a 160. Fans are working, I can watch the gauge drop when I come to a complete stop. Can the lack of cooler plugs or running rich cause it?

Plugs are installed, still running hot. I think I need to make some duct work to get some air up to the rad. This sucks. As you can see in the pic there are small holes in the front g-effects I might be able to use. Maybe some if I use something like your washer/dryer uses I can form fit it. Any other suggestions?

The airdam is important. On my stock '99 Z28, it would go up to 240 and keep climbing if you didn't pull over and let it cool. I had crashed the car and the body guy didn't install a new airdam, and I had no clue it would make that big of a difference until I drove it down the highway and the temps came up!

Intercooler is a 2 core. It has it's own air dam, but it's behind the rad. I'm thinking I might have to extend the stock air dam to get more air to the rad. At that point though, I might have a problem with the intercooler getting air.

Found the problem. When my mechanic installed it, the airdam was cut too far. The intercooler was getting plenty of air, but not my rad. I took some aluminum and extended it. Cooling problem gone!
