One more turbo LT1

Heres another custom turbo setup for an LT1. Thought I would share since I got tons of information and ideas from people on here and maybe some of you guys can get some from myself aswell.

entire exhaust custom built and designed by myself and a few friends (jet hot 2000 coating)
T-76 custom built .81 a/r exh
Turbonetics race gate
Tial 50mm BOV

Slightly modifed tune: timing retard for boost to 32 degrees total.

bone stock bottom end. 10.5:1 estimated
home ported heads with big valves.
Combination motorsports TT-221XL cam with 1.65:1 rockers (love that cam!)
30lb SVO injectors.

Coming iva UPS tomorrow: EPP intercooler and 60lb injectors
Down pipe is going to get a redesign and bump to 3.5" in about a month. Its currntly 3".

heres some pictures

Only running 3~4psi since injectors hit 100% duty cycle at 5000rpm. have hit 9psi at3500 trying to adjust wastegate lol. Car runs smooth as a stock motor and fast as hell. Before the turbo and cam this motor made 368rwhp with a cc306 & LT headers N/A. http://home.hot.rr.com/smr/Cars/bird%20dyno.jpg

As for accy... no A/C, alt now sits below coil with custom mount, and P/S pump is off LS1 (reverse direction) with a custom mount for it was well.

enjoy

Re: One more turbo LT1

nice pics, are you planning on keeping the c.r at 10.5:1? Do you plan on waiting to blow the bottom end before rebuilding with lower compression ratio? keep us posted

Re: One more turbo LT1

I plan on building a motor for this setup whenever the $$ comes available. It will be low compression with after market heads and all kinds of goodies. My ultimate goal is around 800 rwhp. I'm not out to break records or anything like that. I just want to have fun. I wanted to get the turbo setup knocked out and de-bugged before I built the motor. IMHO it will save me tons of potential problems in the long run.... ie. I know this motor runs fine

FWIW I don't plan to test the strength of the stock bottom end. I would like to keep this motor as a back up if possible. That said, theres a good chance it will pop lol but I'm gonna try and make it last. I am gonna try and get it to a dyno and see what she makes sometime before the end of summer. I'm guessing about 410 rwhp @ 4 psi. Don't shoot me, its just a guess! Its alot faster than it was with 368 rwhp, no doubt in my mind.

Just got the IC and 60lb/hr injectors on. be nice to see what she does over 5000rpm now that I have some real injectors! (I do have a larger fuel pump and other stuff to back up the fuel system BTW). Not gonna have a chance to mess with it for another few weeks though.. moving to new house.

There no good way to get a shot of the PS pump with the setup on the car. I do have some pics that I took a few years back that show pretty much what I did. I cannot find any of just the PS pump setup though sorry. BTW its a custom one-off deal

Basically its a plate bolted to the block with another piece behind it for support. Pump is spaced to match up with crank pulley and there is a slot cut for adjusting tension of the belt (can't see in the pics). ANd that is a LS1 PS pump since it turns the oppisite direction than the LT1 style.

You can mount it there, you just got to get rid of and modify alot of stuff

The radiator works fine. That is the way the LT1s are setup from the factory just not all the way to the top and bottom for each side. Though, since my radiator sits lower than the water pump I had to buy and expansion tank and place it above the water pump to keep the air out of the system. The postion and mounting is not final. Its just there until I get the time to do something with it.

Re: One more turbo LT1

What is ghetto about his intake setup? All I saw was an oem bellow. Stick a vaccum gauge or map sensor on it to make sure it isn't a flow problem, if it isn't it is great and looks like an oem part. Your headers look great as well.

Well ok... see i have a griffin and i have it the other way... that way it is sucking from the bottom instead of the top (cuz the port out of the drivers side sucks).

I have a mess of hose right now because of that.

So if I can swap the direction of the hoses then i am set and it will clean everything up a lot.

Where is the Alt if the PS is on the passenger side?
Did you move it to the driver side?
