Ok...tell me what you think 'bout this

Ok as some of you might know im starting my turbo project(already have)..here are alot of the parts im going to be using and im just wondering what you think of the setup.

1993 TA
6speed
12bolt with 3.42's
PTK hotpipes with PT76GTS..custom front mount with alc injection..
Lt1block
230/230 .540/.540 114
eagle 3.48 crank, lunati probillet rods, ross custom pistons, afr 190's(68cc) goin for about 8.5-9.0 comp. ratio
accel gen7...prolly gonna go to turbopeople to have it tuned....i got a kmember with solid mounts(hopefully it wont be too bad) a full array of suspension goodies and other minor odds and ends.

the cars mainly gonna be a street car..comfortability isnt really an issue..i can deal with just about anything...tell me what you guys think..on the right track?

That GTS will make a ****load of power...I think you'll be pretty happy w/ it. Just make sure to spool it up good before you launch it. A buddy of mine had one on his '03 Cobra and it went 10.0@150 only making 5# or so out of the hole.

For longevity and rpms, its hard to beat a short stroke, long rod turbo motor. I will be building another motor for my car as well, and it will be a short stroke high rpm motor. That design works better with turbos, since you increase the PR's and reach better efficiency with the turbo. Also it gives you more room to run a thicker crowned piston. With a 383 and a 6" rod, you tend to have to push the pin up pretty high on the piston skirt, which is not a good thing to do.

Who said you had to run a 6" rod? Why would a high rpm motor last longer than a lower rpm setup? Anyway, these things blow up, not wear out.

lmao.........thats probably the best quote ive seen on the board in awhile.

and knowing us gearheads........if it doesnt blow up, we'll be upgrading it again long before it wears out.

as for your setup, sounds like its gonna be badass. have you ever owned a car with this kind of power before? i bet itll take quite a bit of getting used to.

LOL

You are right on target with that comment! I have not worn out a motor in years! I have blown a few up but more often taken apart a perfectly running motor to upgrade it!

LOL, got to love how Rich thinks, and more then likely he is dead on. I know I have only one engine that has survived more and more boost. So far its been my little 2JZ in the Supra, but I'm sure its days are numbered. As for 10 sec...lol, it will go ALOT fast then 10's unless your on bald tires in the middle of a monsoon rain...lol

high 10s..........maybe if you run it in reverse!

with proper traction, thats easily a low 9 car.

hell, the guy that built my engine is running 9.89 with only 355ci, home ported heads, and a 250shot in a full interior caged car on MT radials.

Re: Ok...tell me what you think 'bout this

well my internals should allow me to saftely spray 100shot..but i wanna use alc. injection for reliability(if thats even feasable) so if i cant use both...then im going to get an N'ter cooler by NX that sprays N2O or CO2 on the intercooler and use alc for a better bump in power...im gonna have a guy minitub my rear..to the LCAs so i can stick wider meats back there to hopefully help with traction on the street..i got a couple of cars back home that need to be put in check.
