O-ringing... heads vs block.

O-ringing... heads vs block.

I know you can either O-ring the heads or the block. in which case you must have "reciever" grooves machined into the other, correct? Is there a advantage to either method?
Feel free to elinghten me on this subject

My block is o-ringed, it is for big boost apps. Basically just creates a better seal on the gasket.
