no boost with Vortech

383 stroker M6 and Vortech blower. I bought the car this way and it's plenty fast. The boost gauge on the pillar does not show any boost it ranges from zero to 20lbs. I had the car dynoed and got 380hp at the wheels. I've checked the hoses and I can hear the hum of the supercharger. I installed another boost gauge that ranges from -20 to + 20lbs. At idle it read 10lbs of vacuum. On acceleration it reads zero. The car is pretty fast as is but I want take advantage of the s/c if I can. The car has 91k miles on in and the motor and blower have about 10k miles on it. Don't know much about these cars so bear with me. It's also overheating on hot days, but I'll address that in another post.

im interested to see what the smart guys on here say about this one.

383 with the blower you should have over 100rwhp more that what you are getting (in my opinion).

maybe belt slip, maybe bad bypass valve.

i doubt this is the problem, but maybe that 383 is suckin down more air that that blower is putting out if the belt is slipping. what size pulleys are on the crank/blower (what trim is the blower?)?

but even with these things, i still cant believe that you are getting zero boost.....

and like i said before, you are way low on HP!

Taking a look at my post "Help -- No Boost" may help. A few things though: (1) the belt needs to be tight - hard to get on tight. (2) Check your bypass valve. (3) check your hoses. (4) Is your filter clean? Otherwise more information on the motor and SC would be helpful. Do you have an FMIC or are you using Meth injection? What head unit are you running? If you have an FMIC than your places for leakage are greatly increased - chack all your hoses - don't just look at them - yank on them. What pulleys? There are many unanswered questions that would help to diagnose it.

couldn't find your post. How do I tighten the belt, Everything runs off 1 serpentine belt. What does the bypass valve look like and where do I find it. Hoses are tight and the filter is clean. No meth or FMIC. Couldn't answer the pulley size question. Bought the car this way and don't really know much about s/c. Previous owner had move out of state and bought it from his father.

You are correct, I just checked during lunch. Notice that the tensioner pulley has a small chunk missing. Would this be something I can pick up at any auto parts store? It's a V1 model in case this makes a difference.

the tensioner pulley is actually made by ford. you would probably end up saving money if you bought it right from a ford parts dealer than if you purchased if from vortech. vortech is crazy expensive on cheap parts....

i paid 70 bucks for a $10 brass fitting.....

Should be one serpentine belt for the accessories and one for just the SC. You can buy the tensioner from Ford, though I don't recall the part #. As for tightening the belt you would need to pull the belt and go to the next smaller belt. I would start with a new tensioner first though. How much boost you will make depends on how well the motor breathes. The better it breathes the less boost you will see.

Its a tensioner from a ford truck. The ford part number is printed right on the face of the tensioner i believe. And as stated above, go to ford parts for it or take out a loan to buy it from Vortech.

So I will put the house up for a loan and buy from Vortech LOL.
The tensioner is ok, it's just the pulley is bad. I'll take if off and check it out
