You just better be prepared when your motor decides to go! There is no doubt about it, the lt1 driveline was not meant to put up with the power, nor was the motor meant for any kind of boost. You can do it, but if you are just looking for around 360-380 RWHP you would be better off doing a heads and cam package and stay a lot more reliable. Then, again if your like me and want a 500 RWHP daily driver , then go turbo.

Usually LT1 cars can run high 13's/lor 14's bone stock. You should be able to click off a 13.7 in stock or near stock trim. If that's your goal, get a cold air kit, a stall, and a shift kit and you'll be there with no problems. The headers and exhaust are just icing on the cake.

Get the turbo when you want to click off an 11.7 time.

From what the website shows, it looks like a bunch of supras. I'll have to watch the vid when I get home, the computers here at work don't like pulling up videos that aren't in mpg format.

Edit... Just tried to view the link, it isn't working.

If you only wanted 11.7 you could pull it off alot easier with nitrous than a turbo kit

also don't forget (although I'm sure I'll get some flames for this)

http://www.ststurbo.com

$3500 for the basic turbo kit with the turbo. Install takes about 4 hours your first time (from what they say)

Be easy on the boost, use good gas (92-93 octane), and retard your timing a bit and you should be fine...remember detonation kills pistons not boost, and with these hypereutectic pistons if you get even a little detonation your gonna break it.

Has anyone using an STS kit ever not liked it? I mean, I've never heard of anyone with the kit saying anything bad about it. All I ever saw was the guy from STS saying how their "lightly" moded Z was pulling down 11 second passes. How many people consider changing pistons to be a simple modification?

I would tend to agree that a piston swap isn't an easy mod, but with no heads/cam/exhaust, etc I would still call it lightly modded.

Didn't I hear someone say a while back that if all your doing is swapping pistons you can do it in the car? I may be on crack here...

I believe it's technically possible to change the pistons without removing the motor, but can you imagine what a pain the butt it would be since you would have the K member in the way. It would be more hassel than it was worth I think. I mean you're going to have to remove the headers, intake, heads, oil pan, and unbolt the motor mounts to jack up the motor. You may as well unbolt the tranny and yank the motor completely.
