Newb to Chargers: a couple of questions

Hey guys,

I'm will be purchasing a D1SC in a few days and installing it when I pull my motor in the next month. I'm leaning towards 10lbs. with the twin intercoolers. I will have the engine apart as I'm installing 4 bolt mains, studs, etc. to freshen it up and correct a couple of problems. I plan to keep my forged, factory-syle JE pistons, but wanted your opinion on the aftermarket GMPP rods and crank that I have. Do you think they will work for about 550-650 fwhp?

Next come injectors. I need to upgrade my 36lbs. and I would think that I could go too low, but not too high, is that correct? How much can the factory PCM and fuel system handle? I'm at the point where I am tired of replacing new parts that are barely used, because I didn't plan ahead, or tried going cheap the first, second, or even third time....

Any suggestions that you guys would have would be great.

If you haven't already, I would read this sticky at the beginning of this forum:

Lot of good suggestions especially the post by 97WS6Pilot.

You are fine with any high z injector. I don't think I have seen bigger than 83# and they run fine. I have a set of 95# low zs on a 370 cube motor with no idle issues. I would suggest a 60ish for your goals.

4 bolt mains may not be a requirement for your goals, but can't hurt if you have the money to spare.

Rods - I would probably spring for better, but yours have take that much abuse plenty of times - Crank would be ok too.

I'm not a fan of the twin intercoolers but people have run them to that power level. I would just do a big single and be done. Probably cheaper too.

Sorry I'm a bit vague.

Thanks. I did read that sticky and it was great. I have decided to buy a forged rotating assembly with dished pistons to drop the compression. I might as well do it right, especially since I will have the motor out of the car! I was trying to be cheap, but I know this is the wrong place to do that!

You're totally right. It's hard not to be vague when you don't know exactly what a persons intentions are (especially if that person doesn't know either haha). I'm going to spring for everything and do it right just in case. I know myself, and I'm always wanting more out of my car. I purchased a D1 with a FMIC. I'm thinking that 10-12 psi will satisfy me, but you never can tell until it hits the track. Thanks!

You always want more. We took a car to Texas last weekend that I am tuning. Made 3 passes on 7-8psi and swapped springs. Always want more.
