Cool New Turbo Junkie, need help

As you might have seen, I posted earlier about making a 383 for my car.

My friend just called me and gave me pretty damn good news, he re-opened his shop, and wanted to know if I was still interested in boosting my Z.

Now of course I said YES, so the problem I have is now I have to find out the opposite of what I was looking for, for my 383...I know I have to run low compression, but as to what pistons, crank, and beams and rods and suchI need is uncertain to me...

I beleive I can still use the Eagle 4340 crank, but everything else Im not sure on...If someone can pm as to what would be best to use for the build that would be great!!!

Heres an idea that what the setup would consist of, from what he emailed me off the top of his head...

TWIN TURBO

-x2 Garrett 62-1 HyBrid Turbo Charger
-x2 Stainless Steal Manifold
-x2 Stainless 3inch Downpipe w/t O2 Sensor
-x2 Tail Wastegate
-x2 Oil Feed / Oil Return Kit
-x2 14in Flex Fans
-x1 Twin Entry- Single Outlet Intercooler
-x1 Twin charged IC Pipes
-x1 Hybrid Pull Blow-off-valve
-x1 Boost Gauge
-x1 Oil Sump

The only thing that sucks is my AC would be gone, and probably my power steering...

You need to find the exact combustion chamber size of the heads you're going to be using and the head gasket crush thickness in order to pick out pistons. People will probably recommend between 8.5:1 and 9.5:1 for final compression ratio. There are calculators online that you can plug all your numbers into to find the final CR. Your crank should be fine. I'd reccomend Eagle's forged rods, and the version of them will depend on how much power you intend on making. With a new rotating assembly you might need a new balancer, hub, and flexplate depending on wether its internally balanced or externally balanced. Hope this helps getting you started.

well for now i was just going to be getting my stock heads port n polished with a 3 angle valve job, until i can afford a nice set of afrs or something along the lines...

as for compresion ratio I was thinking about 8:5, 9:0 ratios....unless my friend suggest other wise...only problem we are seeing as of right now is the passenger side, he was talking something about logs...im assuming that ment the custom manifolds...

In order to get an accurate calculation of compression ratio you need to know the exact volume of the combustion chambers. I don't know what your heads are supposed to be stock but a good machine shop will use a syringe and water to measure it. Then you can order the correct dished pistons. My set up is 8#s on a 383 and I went with 8.5:1 Eleven inch fans would work just fine, flex fans make a lot more noise than regular fans btw.

Yup. Aftermarket fans locate the actually fans inline with eachother, not staggered the stockers. A dual 14" setup will require a radiator that is ~29" without endtanks... so probably a 36" long radiator. That radiator wont fit.

The dual 11's fit on a 28" wide radiator (including endtanks) which fit perfect... plus they flow ~2800cfm.
