New best with boost and 100 shot

Hey all, Last night we went over for a fun night of TnT action over at lubbock dragway. I got to see one of my friends set the track record with a 7.3 at 189 (smaller local track)

Well, I really like what the 100 shot did for my car. It came out of the hole like a monster (to me) and pull like a freight train. The only drawback I saw is the extra hp is making my car shift into overdrive before the lights. I guess I could hold it in 3rd longer, but I dont like to rev the motor that high on stock rods/rod bolts.

DA for this run was 4805ft, it was my 4th 100 shot pass of the night and the bottle wasn't holding pressure quite as well, but the air had gotten better than the previous 2 hours. I think it may have picked up a little this last pass because i took .5 less degrees out on the 685.

Here are the numbers off my slip.

r/t..... .086
60ft.... 1.606
330'.... 4.729
1/8th... 7.358
1/8mph.. 95.98
1000'... 9.625
1/4.....11.526
MPH.....120.57

My other N20 runs were 11.60, 11.61, and 11.82 (spun pretty bad on that one)

What do you all think for a very heavy car with stock unported heads and a hotcam, 355lb driver, full tank of gas, and bad air? I am definately pleased.

PS: I also improved my best no nitrous time with my first run of the night in 5400ft DA air. It ran an 12.51 at 109.xx (timeslip still in the car on the trailer)

Yes it is. The numbers may not seem all that impressive to some, but others who have actually raced in 5k+ air will understand what that does to your times. A fast stock 00+ Camaro SS here runs 14 flat with a GOOD driver.

Also, my race weight on the Impala is 4700 lbs, so If you want to compare your camaro times, make a few passes with 3 350 lb passengers with you, and see what happens

Nice for a heavy car at 4,850ft! The N2O really helps a heavy car get out of the hole. I am probably stating the obvious, but if you have a 4L60 tranny better start budgeting for a new one.

Yea, I was really happy with the 1.60 short time. It felt GOOOOD.

I did just redo the 4L60e with all the good parts (hardened input shaft, stator support shaft, extreme sunshell, 5 pinion planets, billet servos, new clutches and plates, etc) I know it wont last forever, but If I can get it to stay together for a year at a time between refreshing the clutch packs, I will be happy.

On a side note, how much timing do you think I should be pulling with my ignition box on the 100 shot. I run straight vp 109 unleaded (r+m/2 of 105), and I am seeing 10.5-11 psi at this elevation. It has 8.55 static, and a fairly narrow lsa cam (lt4 hot). If anyone wants to figure out my dynamic compression for me, I would be greatful. It has the stock iron heads, and standard impy gaskets.

According to the calculator I just used on line, It corrects to 10.7 at 128.

I dont think it would be that fast, as the correction shouldn't apply to the 100 hp from the N20, just the motor/boost hp. Also, my stock unported heads probably wouldn't flow all the extra air I would have down at sea level. I would think it would MAYBE squeak out an 10.99 or an 11.0x @ 126.

I'd bet you'd be pretty close to the 10.7 at sealevel...

Great numbers. Here at Bandimere, we run at 5800 and it makes a big difference... I got a new best last Friday of 11.72 at 122 mph on 14# of boost.

Good Job!

I have had the car weighted at 2 seperate scales to get an idea. With the 18s on it, a full tank of gas and me in it, It tipped in at between 4750-4800 on both scales.

I dont run with the 18s, I run the XPs, so thats 90lbs off there, but I do run with a full tank of gas to keep it from picking up air on the launch, and my *** weights alot... let me go weigh... as of this morning I come in at a trim 372. I think my race weight is right about 4680-4700 which makes sense I guess.

car weight 4090
Me..............370
24Gal fuel...150
N2Okit..........30
Strim&acc.....60
speakerbox..75 (I take the 3 10s out, but the box is actually part of the back dash now... cant be removed)
less 90 lbs for wheels

It is HEAVY, that I know, LOL

stock SSs around here run slower than that even.... the DAs here are in the 7000ft range on good nights So your times are very impressive, especially in such a boat.
