New ATI 4.5" twin intercoolers

Anybody tried these yet?

Twin Highflow 11L x 9W x 4.5D

Fit? Efficiency? How much better flow than the previous 11 X 9 X 3"?

I've read past posts where many people feel like the previous twinflows were restrictive--seems like adding 1.5" to the depth would increase the volume substantially. It also appears that they went from a 2.5" inlet to a 3.0" diameter.

Called ATI today--unfortunately the 4.5" deep won't fit our cars. Not enough room they said.

What?! Are you sure? Man that would suck but maybe he didn't know what he was talking about perhaps? Somebody has to have them on their car by now. I'd call Bob @ EPP and see what he says. I don't have mine yet so I can't say whether they do or don't but it seems there is room but a TA my be different than a Z too so who knows. Wish somebody w/ the old twin IC's would chime in and see if they think there is room for more.

That really blows chunks if they don't fit.

Re: New ATI 4.5" twin intercoolers

yea they are a tight fit...i could see how it would be tricky...heres a couple pics of my 3.5's. you be the judge

The November 2005 GM High Tech Performance tested the new 4.5 inchers on an ls1 TA and compared them to the 3.5 inchers...they found .5 psi less boost drop off and 10% more effective in cooling air. They found a 9 degree difference in IAT from the 4.5's over the 3.5's. I believe at 6500 rpm the 4.5's were sitting at 62 degrees, compared to 71 for the 3.5's...hope this helps

Maybe there is a way it can be modified to fit? May need a little cutting of the bottom where the IC is? I don't know but is there more room at the top vs how it looks really close at the bottom w/ no clearance.

Now I wonder if ATI sells the 4.5" version for Fbodies and lists "modification required to fit".

The 4.5" twins are for the LS1 Cars. They will not fit the LT1's. I have tried to make them work, but they just won't. Even with custom-fabbed tanks they won't work.

We LT1 guys are stuck with the 3.5".

Re: New ATI 4.5" twin intercoolers

When I measured up my car it seemed like their was much more room standing the IC's up vertically. The cores on these are 15x6x4.2

Not sure if these will fit a pontiac.

What intercoolers are you using on your setup?

At this point, everything is "custom." I'm sure there is a market for off the shelf stuff, though.

Custom = measuring tape, and sore back .

2 questions

1) How much?

2) Where did you mount?
