Need your advice please
First off I'm 17 and just found out yesterday I'm getting a Vortech S-Trim. I am sending out the check to the guy for it today. After the install, fuel pump (NOS), Crane ignition (with timing retard) I will not have much left in the bank. I realize that blowers aren't the safest thing. I worry much more about reliability than power, but wanted a blower sooo bad, now I'll have one
. What do you guys suggest as far as tuning for reliabilitly. Obviously retard the hell out of the timing. I will be on a 195lph fuel pump the Holley (nos) which I will be getting used as well. I was told I could stay on stock injectors. I will probably see MAX 6 pds of boost, if it's a half a pound over that I'm buying a different pulley so I see around 5. I wanna blower, so not getting one isn't an option, I just want to know what to do to make it as safe as possible. Thanks guys
Stephen

If you do a search you will find alot of useful info.
If you do not have the money for an engine rebuild than I high recommend against a blower. Engine rebuilds are expensive when everything is done.

If funds are a problem i would not buy a SC. I would change all of your fuel system. 190fp is just to small, and so are the stock injectors. You need a good intank pump GSS340, and 36lb injector at the least. Tuning is a nightmare if you have no knowledge of how the engine works, and more important how the ECM works with all the sensors and crap. Dyno is a $150hr and that will add up fast. Mail order tunes are risky beacause every motor is not the same. Once you get done spending the 1-2k on fuel systems, ECM, and the millions of other parts, you have to start saving for a 2k rear end, and 1k+ tranny. So what im saying is that the blower cost will be the least money your going to spend!
Further more your doing this on a stock engine which never works in our cars, and that will put you down another 3k for rebuild if you can do your most of your own work. I have 8k in my motor and blower, and as you i did not believe what these guys said, and i though i could do it cheaper WRONG
. I still have to go to the dyno, worried about tranny, need to buy and learn lt1-edit. Dont get me wrong i love the car and love to work on it, but if i did not make good money every week and have a shop full of tools there is no way this could have worked.
key word is SEARCH.
Hope that helps some

I did search, but didn't find anything specific to my case. I guess I'm screwed b/c the deal is done and I'm getting it. I have talked to David and Jason from David's auto...and they have assured me it's not as risky as everyone says when you don't run too much boost. Not doubting any of y'all I don't want to come off like I am. I just trust them when they say that it will last a decent amount of time. I hope so. I guess live and learn if it blows
EDIT: what if I got the compression lowered?? If so what should I drop it to...and what boost should I run...I want SAFE over power. And I know safe is 0 psi...but that's not an option

They actually just finished one Friday on a 4th generation LT1 T/A. He had 81,000 and was too modded either. That blower came off a 4th generation z28 which had been running with the S-Trim blower for I believe a couple of years with no problems. I'm gonna just get them to retard the hell outta the timing and do whatever else to make it as safe as possible and cross my fingers. If something goes I atleast hope it holds a few month so I can make some money.
