need help with single turbo LT1

alright, i am doing a single turbo LT1 for my 383, so I am looking at using a s400 turbo. Does anybody have any pics of their single turbo motors out of the car, and in the car? Im just having problems trying to figure out the best place to mount a turbo

im only going to be spinning the car to about 6500, so idk if this turbo is too big, or if anyone else can recommend a smaller turbo that would be as good/better for my setup

BTW, the turbo is so big, you best bet is down low in front of the engine. Not many options for placing that turbo unless your ready to elocate and hack $hit up.

Or maybe relocate my battery and put it up over there?

It can only go in front of the engine (between the crank pulley and raditor). The turbo is too damn big. Now you could mount it up near the battery... search for threads by NA$TY-TA on ls1tech.com and look for his buildup thread.

Here is the link to the shop that built it.
http://www.stenodperformance.com/gal...s.php?album=11

He originally had it setup for the GT42, then he upgraded to the S88... but an S400 is pretty big too. Check it out.

My little turbo barely fits down low. No way the S400 is going to fit unless you move the radiator forward or out of the way.

alright, i think im gonna look for a smaller turbo cause i dont like what id have to do for the s400. I want to be able to shift at 6500 or lower, and it will be a 383.
My friend recommended:
te44, pt52, gt35, but not sure if those are too small i was thinking like a gt40/gt42 or something like that.

those turbos are way too small. you will need at least a t-76. Also you should do some research and look at compressor maps.

Everything you listed is too small exept the GT42, but the GT42 is giant like the S400.

You need a T4 flange turbo... with a 383ci, a T88 will make the most power out of all the T4 based turbos. A T76 is a nice unit for the street and can support some good power... realistically ~800rwhp with a manual (obviously alot factors into getting that much power). If you have any design specific questions you can email me too jrbellas95z28@yahoo.com

yeah, ive been slowly researching it, because i was always dead set on a procharger, but things came up with procharger and i am steering away from them and going turbo now. Ive also heard the s88? would work good. Where can i find a t-76 at? It is a street car, im building it for fun, not for a full out drag car. We ran numbers and found i could make probably 880 hp at the flywheel with the s400 if its built right.

S88 = GT42 ~S400 sizewise. The GT42 and S88 were in Kyle's buildup that I linked to you (Stenod's buildup). The swapped in an S88 after the fact because they are the exact same size and mounting locations.

You need a precision, turbonetics or innovative T76....

For turbonetics, you could get the new TC units from forced inductions. The TC76 MPS for $1000 would be a great option:

http://www.forcedinductions.com/productturbonetics.htm

There are different Precision T76's as well GTQ or GTS:

Also, check turbomustangs.com for T76 turbos forsale in the classifieds.
