Need help on set-up 15psi of boost

I have a quick question. I have a 94 z28 lt1 with a sts turbo kit. I'm currently running the stock engine with lt4 hotcam kit. I'm running 5psi of boost. I just recently bought a forged 350 shortblock. I plan to run 15psi on this shortblock. I was going to switch over my hot cam, lifters, pushrods, etc. Will the stock pushrods up to 15psi I plan to make around 600rwhp. What type of timing chain also - would the stock one be okay for the power range. My last question is the lt4 hotcam kit came with better springs would those be able to hold up to my power as well.

I'd run a cam with very little or no overlap if you want to make high boost.

The GM heavy duty double roller timing chain is what I would reccomend (thats what I am running). As for the hot cam, I wouldn't bother with using it for your setup/goals personally. I would get a different cam ground specifically for what you are looking to make power wise and your driving styles, and meant for your STS.

Thanks. I understand the hotcam is not a good turbo cam. But it's more of a budget build. It's making good power with my set-up right now. I have no problems with it. I know a different cam would give me allot more power but once again I rather just re-use the cam I have for now. I just want to know if the stock pushrods will be okay with 15psi. Or should I upgrade those also

I'd at least upgrade to some hardened pushrods rather than using your stock ones. As for the cam, it's not even really just about the power difference. The hotcam is really a mild cam meant for N/A. The CC306 is really meant for a wicked top end power puller N/A. Both can be used with FI, but neither would be ideal for your setup.

This is no offense to you in any way, but I never understood people who wanted to half do a FI car. Why settle for something like that will not be ideal. For the cost of a cam, you really aren't spending a considerable amount more compared to the big cost of going FI in the first place. But thats just my opinion. Lots of guys just want to pinch pennies here and there, but I just don't get it.

Hello - yeah I know what your saying. Basically I just want to get this shortblock in the car asap. I know the hotcam is not a ideal cam for my set-up. But I dont have that much money. Later down the road I can always change it if I dont like the performance. I'm running 5psi right now and it pulls hard. Love the power and sound. I'm sure I will be happy with more boost

I'm not sure, but I bet the stock Fbody LT1 cam has less overlap that the LT4 Hotcam, since the stock cam is 117 lsa and the hotcam is 112, and the hotcam has longer duration too.

I bet you could make more power with the stock cam than the hotcam, due to reversion issues. Maybe use 1.6 rockers to increase lift a bit.
Look into it, find the overlap for each camshaft.

what he said-
all the blower cams you can order have 114lsa. im not sure what the stock is rated at, but if it is 117 lsa then do like what he said and just run some rr's(which i asume you got with the hot cam kit).and i would definitely get some hardend pushrods.

also it is a good idea to invest in the better parts now. if youre running fine on the stock motor with 5psi then keep that untill you can save up the $250 for a nice blower cam. i would suggest the one i have, its the comp cam 224/236/114. its rated as an agressive cam for the street, but so is 15psi.im just saying that make sure you have all the internal parts of the motor you want before you put it in the car, heads and other external parts can be done later. just my 2 cents. good luck bud.

If you're on a tight budget, use the stock cam.
