Need help from Machinist on the board for ATI hub
Ok guys here's the deal. I need to have my timing chain cover and Vortech pulley machined for my ATI big hub and balancer setup. The machine shops out here want $400-$500 to machine the cover and turn down the crank pulley. Most people on here say it cost less than $100 to do everything. I cant see paying that kind of money to put the pulley on a lathe and hone out the timing cover. Does anyone here own a shop that can do this, or know of someone who can help me out? I need your help guys. This is all I have left to do to put my motor back together. Thanks, Rob.
I'm not sure how much machine work needs to be done to the Vortec pulley (I am using a Procharger), but when I purchased the ATI dual keyway "big block style" hub and balancer, I sent my timing cover to ATI and they machined it, shipped it back to me and included the proper seal and it was less than $100. Hope this helps.
I sent my timing cover to ATI as well and got it back, all less than $100 including shipping. I sent my Procharger pulley's to SD Concepts when they set me up with their tensioner, they machined the pulley. But the whole new tensioner cost $450, so that seems kind of steep.
But, you are in Hawaii, and they probably can charge more because there's less machinists out there?
