need help with blow by issues..383 BAND AIDS?

i have had a problem with blow by with my engine since the day i started it up. so far i have about 4000 miles on it, the front and rear silicone gaskets on the intake leak, along with the rear main. since the machinist wont make good i need some advice. im still running the same set up in my sig. to try and band aid the situation i added a foam breather in each valve cover and im running the mr gasket crank case evac kit. that works well with 13 pounds of boost but if i ever wanted to step it up i would have to refresh this engine. my question is...... all you guys running 15#'s or more are you having a problem with oil leaks with a FRESH ENGINE. i understand that every engine needs crank case evac but mine is excessive.. please state your breather setups, pics, or if alot of people have oil leaks with boosted cars? thanks everybody!!!!

I'll take a stab at this even though my car isn't running yet.

Assuming your car is 95+. Cap off the port off the tb where that line goes to the ps VC. Put a breather on it or run it to a catch can. The actual pcv line I'd put a oil/water seperator between the pcv. Or you can run that line w/ a T and then connect it to the ps VC then to the catch can.

The way I'm doing mine is I'm running 2 breathers on the ps vc and 1 breather on the ds. TB ports are capped off. PCV has a oil/water seperator. My application is pullied for 22+psi. I'm a 93 so I'm not worried about unmetered air. Only pic I have is this here but doesn't show much.

Mine had blowby for 5,000 miles then the rings finally seated. Those plasma moly rings are very hard to seat. I'd put some cheap light weight oil like 5W30 non synthetic oil in it. Then here comes the fun part. Get on it and wind it up. Also I would hook up your stock pcv system except for the passenger valve cover. Hopefully, its not too late for your rings or you have more serious problems.

350 bucks?! Ouch. Guess that's small price to pay vs a rebuild.

I've never seen an electric pump that moved much cfm. I'm interested to see if this works. There were some guys that tried to use the air/smog pump and it didn't last long or work well.

well can't help you but in the same boat with rear main.I had a 383 built for a s-trim,afr210,and have had a problem with rear main. Engine builder has had 3 cracks at it since and cant figure it out.TO add to the drama i found out he used a 2pc rear main crank, not to happy bout after all that money spent. So I'm thinking of getting a layer to help me.

thanks for all the suggestions guys!

zblk.. mine is set up just like yours, and im running evacuation kit.

ws6 pilot.. right now i have 10-40 in it with lucas but hopefully they will seat properly. at first i was thinking about that theory and hoping it was true, we'll see after this season when i run the **** out of it!

fire chicken.. good suggestion with the pump but to be honest i didnt want to spend that just to cover up this problem. i think it would be a real necessity if i was more boost than 13 #'s...

ill keep ya updated if i figure anything out!

one more question,
since all the rain is gone ill be finishing up the TA tomorrow. here's the question.... since i have a breather in each valve cover and i also have the evacuation kit in each cover; do you think that the vacuum that the evac kit is making is pulling fresh air in the breather and its going right out the exh?
any more suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!

Your evac kit isn't doing anything if you still have breathers. Block off your breathers and beat the snot out of the car! I run the Morroso evac kit with no problems. Jeff

I was told with a Blower setup not to add breathers?? Just run the PCV from the driverside of the intake to a oil/Air seperator into the suckside of the blower, and be done with it. Thats what I plan on doing with my D1SC setup.

jeff, does CAM still do your tuning? i was thinking of changing a few things and getting in touch with him again. i wonder if he'll come up here to jersey and tune at a local shop instead of me going to NC again.
