Need help

Im looking on building a 95 lt1 for some boost. I dont know hardly anything about the lt1's. planing on doing a forged set up not rely sure how far i need to go. meaning do i need to do the crank. I am looking for around 600hp-700hp range to the wheels. I have been reading most of the build threads on here but everyone seems to go stroker. Is this a neccesity. But im not rely looking for 1000hp here. i am going to do everything myself. Meaning fab my piping and piece my turbo kit together. I have got a good understanding on turbo set ups from imports. but not too much on lt1's. If anyone knows some good any good articles they would be greatly apreciated.

Well the reason you see so many stroker builds is since you are more than likely going to be replacing the crank might as well get a stroker crank anyway.

Just keep doing research here and follow one of the many many builds here and it will give you an idea of what you are going to need.

My question is- Do you know how much HP 6-700 to the rear wheels actually is? Many people throw around hp numbers without having driven a car that makes that much power to realize how much of a handful they can be. Mine is currently only around the 500 rwhp mark and breaking tires loose at 60 mph isn't a challenge at all. It is a big responsibility to have that much power at your disposal- hope you understand what you are getting into and the cost associated with getting there as well.

It was actually recognizing from the imports that you don't need a big motor to make big HP that I dumped my entire 383 solid roller setup and went back to a 355. If you go to my signature's link you can see what I collected to make my 600rwhp goal, piece by piece. All the links to pictures, etc are at the bottom of the page. The most recent posts/updates are at the top of the page, the first ones are at the bottom.

As the other poster indicated, 600 rwhp on the street (with tires to hold it) is something bordering on scary at times. I've been in a race with a sportbike and, in 3rd gear, my rear end started coming around on me, I had to feather the throttle a bit to get straight again, then I passed him.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Hey thank you for the link and for the information. I had about 450ish in my honda so i kind of know the feeling. except it still goes strait when you spend. I do understand the cost thats why this will be a couple year long process. I do make good money though being that im in the army. When i posted this last night i was just agravated because i didnt know where to start this whole process but i got a decent handle on it know. Im not rely sure what car exactly this is going in yet. I def feel alot more comfortable going sideways in my old 240 than i do my camaro so we will see where that takes me. i def will have some questions later down the road but as of right now i think im good. I plan on making a thread sometime down the road but depending on what car i put it in i dont think they will apreciate very much here but we will see.
