Need to find a good inlet tube for my D1SC...

Well my car made great power with no inlet tube on, my problem is that the custom inlet tube my motor shop made for me is giving me the same (actually slightly less) boost as when the stock D1SC inlet tube was on.

Anyone know of any aftermarket inlet tubes for an LT1 D1SC? I have heard that Bob from EPP makes one, but am pretty sure it is for the LS1 not an LT1. Again looking for a PREMADE inlet tube here that is proven to work. I need a quick replacement not one that someone has to fabricate for me again.

When you say "stock D1SC inlet tube" do you mean the plastic molded one, or the orange dryer hose?

Re: Need to find a good inlet tube for my D1SC...

I am talking about ATI's new and improved plastic inlet tube. With the tube on, my car made 490 RWHP on 10#'s of boost. Without the inlet tube on my car made 590 RWHP on 15#'s of boost!

My motor shop fabricated a silicone "less restrictive" inlet tube than the plastic tube from ATI. However once the car starts to make boost the silicone collapses, choking the car, and its power. My engine shop has since reinforced the supposed collapsing inlet tube, but it still is only making 8#'s of boost, and feels way low on power.

Basically I am trying to find a metal replacement for the inlet tube. Does anyone know where to get one without having to try and have one fabricated again?

You need a Aluminum Elbow, at this point in the game you may need a Exhaust shop to fab somthing up for you. Give us some close up pics on how your D1SC is Mounted and we may be able to come up with something.
If it helps I have a Very similiar setup to you and I am going with a Custom made Elbow.

I am in the same boat as 911....althought i still have the orange dryer hose, i still manage to keep 12 psi, but i know i could do much better. I am considering cutting a hole in the wheel well right by the inlet for the D1SC, and then running the piping through the fender to a more open location...not sure where but at least it will give me more room....What do you think about doing that 911 ????

On my car it looks like there is room to run the inlet out of the top. It looks like you would need a 4" tight 135 degree bend. My car does not have ABS though. Let us know what you come up with.

Hey 97ws6pilot... i like how your car is set up. You have done a nice job keeping it clean and neat looking. Can you tell me more about the abs delete. I would like to do that on my car. thanks

Re: Need to find a good inlet tube for my D1SC...

Well I am baffled. I ended up putting the stock ATI inlet tube back on, and drove it at WOT on the street, and now I am making 13#'s of boost. The bigger inlet tube that was made only made 8#'s of boost. This may be because part of the inlet tube was rubber and may have been collapsing. Either way, I am about out of $ for the car for this year, and I think if I am making only 2#'s of boost less than what it was tuned for at 15#'s, I will put on a bigger air filter and call it quits until next year when I am done paying off all the motor bills and I have some extra $ to play around with.

My thing is, I wanted a specific power level for my car, and right at 15#'s of boost I made the exact power I wanted. So, if this can be achieved by adding a bigger filter, this may be all I need to do. Regaurdless of me, there is a definate need for others here for a better inlet tube. Please keep posting info on this.

I have been talking with EPP, and it sounds like they may start to try and make an aftermarket inlet tube for us LT1 D1SC guys. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

You may be ok, ive never had a problem hitting 15#s and I still have the orange dryer tube crap along with the largest KN that you can cram in there.

Re: Need to find a good inlet tube for my D1SC...

After EPP looked a little more at the LT1 D1SC setup, they pretty much stated that it would be near impossible to fit any better piece in the space.

They did hook me up with a larger air filter that seems to give me an extra # of boost. I also noticed that the air filter the inlet tube came with had started to collapse at the 13#'s of boost I was running. It is comforting knowing the larger filter won't collapse.

subscribing. The only options we have are either a custom made unit from an exhaust shop, the mufflex unit, and the new plastic ATI unit.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the ATI Inlet. Its probably the filter that is your problem. I ran my car today without the inlet and only picked up about 1 pound of boost. My filter is a 3.5" x 9" K&N cone filter and it seems to be doing well.
