my t6 pt88 progress picz

383 lt1 with a T6 exhaust inlet pt88...did the headers, core support, all fab work...
all stainless 1 3/4" primaries to burns 4 to 1 merge collectors, 4" DP, turbo is being braced to engine, thats why there is no flex couplers in the (2) 2 1/2" pipes to the turbo..using a 48mm turbosmart progate...should be fun come next spring

heres the progress

Very nice. I like what you've done with the core support. It's very clean.

Re: my t6 pt88 progress picz

There is room to get that downpipe between the header and the firewall? Looks awesome. What radiator are you using? Is it a 16" height or 19"? The hood actually closes???

Must have paid a fortune for those merge collectors, I looked into those from Burns, I wanted the ones with the T4 flange welded on to it. They wanted over $700 a peice for them. I ended up making my own headers for under $400 out of mild steel with flanges and weld on collectors. I couldn't justify $1400 for just collectors

thanx for the complements guys...

SmoknZ,
well... i have over a half inch clearance all the way around the DP close to an inch in some spots...i will be using a heat shield of some type around the firewall area for extra precaution...

If you buy the collectors bare from Burns you can get um for about $600 if you dont have any flanges welded on...and thats for a pair...headers were expensive...prolly have about 1200 plus my labor into them...im still debating if i should ceramic coat the stainless or not...it would provide alot of heat protection..

it is a custom radiator made by Superior Radiator in Mt. Clemons.. it is 30 x 17...fits like a glove

the hood...this is pretty cool because the turbo only sticks up about 2 inches and i have a 4 inch cowl...and by that point the cowl is at full raise...has about 2 inches of clearance

Is that the double slip collectors from Burns? You must have the AC box taken out of the engine bay then to get extra clearance? Really does look awesome!!

Re: my t6 pt88 progress picz

Are the single slip a weldless fit like the double? how do you keep them on, ya have to weld tabs and have some sort of connector?

I'd love to see a pic of how you routed that downpipe. I thought about doing my twin setup with the turbo's mounted over the valvecovers, but I could see no way to get even a 3" to fit by the rear primaries and the firewall. You have a 4" downpipe, correct? Did you modify the stock airbox to use only heat and remove the part that has the evaporator for AC? It's really dark in the rear of the engine bay, can't really see. If thats what you did, I'd be interested in how you did it, as I no longer have AC and don't need that big mess back there!

Re: my t6 pt88 progress picz

Thanks for the tip on the heater. Not a bad price either. Was it pretty easy to integrate into the heat system? You still able to have zone control (like defrost) or is it just simply floor heat?

Re: my t6 pt88 progress picz

sorry i cant get pics up tonight...just ran my mind..i will take some pics tomorrow and try to get them posted asap at work...

it has an off low med high setting for the fan...you can eliminate so much clutter...and i ran some ducting to the stock defrost location on the windshield and let the rest hit the passengerside floor/feet area...my gf is always cold and her feet are always first....so i planned ahead.. lol

other than that everything else is gone and i blocked off where most of the fresh air comes in the car while driving so i wont get that annoying heat on me while driving with it off...i still left some openings to keep fresh air always in the car because defrost will not work without fresh air because if it doesnt circulate it will get too much moisture in the air and you will fog your wndows even more with the heat...

Thumbs up Re: my t6 pt88 progress picz

Looks great. I'm concerned about the underhood temps. What type of intake manifold are you going to use? I am interested in how the plumbing is going to work.
