yea. braided is expensive.... outdated too.

looks cool. and if you want the flash and a strong hose, go for it.

but theres a whole selection of various approved lines.. some are even more abrasion resistant, and hold more pressure...and they're cheaper. only downside is they arnt shiny. personally i like the black "is that stock?" look... most of the time, braided line looks out of place IMO... but like i said, its a cosmetic opinion thing.

if money or performance is the primary concern, you have several other sanctioning body approved, cheaper options.

Re: Modding the fuel rail

I used mostly black Aeroquip hose and pushlock fittings. Cost of the hose wasnt to bad, but the cost of the fittings is what really ran up the price. I suppose I did go a little overkill with the fuel system routing though - I tapped the front and back of both rails for -6 feed. -6 fittings are also welding into the center top of the each rail, which return to an Aeromotive regulator (like Texlurch has), then returns to the tank.

I've always been partial to the Russell Twist-lok stuff. Still interested in what you're talking about. Got a product name?

Re: Modding the fuel rail

yea, i just got a email back from the guy i got my hose from... he said its called StartLite... i donno who makes it though.

in anycase he said it has kevlar on the outside so its really abrasion resistant. i emailed him back, asking who made it, but hes really slow to respond... (hence the wait)

Re: Modding the fuel rail

StartLite hose is made by Aeroquip ... supposed to be ~50% lighter than stainless steel braided hose.

Re: Modding the fuel rail

I ran a -10 line to a Y then 2 -8 lines to the back of the fuel rails. Then from the front of the rails it is 2 -8 lines to the regulator, then a -6 line back to the tank for a return. I wish i wouldn't have went with braided as it is $20+ for every fitting that isn't straight, which is the majority of my fittings.

What did you figure was your alternative? In case you were considering the lighter Startlite hose instead, it would have been twice as expensive per foot, and use the same $$ fittings, unless you would choose to have hose supplier install the lightweight crimped fittings designed especially for the Startlite hose.

Re: Modding the fuel rail

I can't remember the name of the company, but it was like this pushlock stuff.. It was a little chaper, but not by to much. It just sucks knowing i spent around $1500 for a fuel system.
