Methenal Hydrate

Hey guys, im going to have to go and pass an emisssions test soon, and i'm kind of thinkin its gunna fail, its just as it says in my sig, and i have a mail in tune, but i specified to the guy that it has to be for an emissions safe car, if thats possible? I have run methenal hydrate through my car, or something in that nature, which burns hotter than normal fuel, which then cleans out the cataylit converters. If I do this to my car, will it cause it to detenate on me? or do u think there is no consiquences Any help will be greatly appreciated, Greg

I've heard people (when I lived in TO) use it (it is pure methanol) to pass. How much and how full the gas tank has to be I don't know but it is possible.

I don't see anything in your sig that would make me believe that you are going to fail, assuming that you still have catalytic converters on the car. Especially if you have a stock cam. I would run it through first and see what happens. Mine passed emissions here easily.

long time ago i tried some of that stuff that claims will help you pass... i failed worse then i did before.

why do you think your going to fail? if you have cats, still running closed loop... you should be fine.

I used it 2 years ago. My car just failed idle and cruise barely.
I added a liter of methyl hydrate to a full tank and passed. My numbers dropped approx. 15%.

This was with Heads, Cam, long tubes with 2 cats.

Later, I discovered that one of my magnaflow cats was completely blown.
Later my opti pooched.
Going for an e-test in April and don't believe I'll need the MH this time.

Have you ever monitored your O2's? As long as they are ok you should be alright for emissions.
