I am looking to add another 30-50 RWHP, and I think I am almost maxed out for boost on my D1SC. I was thinking about methanol injection. What kits are out there? Is methanol injection better than the alky? How much do the kits usually cost? And how hard is the install? How much RWHP gain should I see? And finally, will it give me more boost?
Here is my current setup;

Get rid of those heads for som better ones and easily get your 50rwhp

I know I could probably benefit considerably by changing my heads. However that is expensive, and I'm only looking of adding additional 30-50 RWHP here for CHEAP (under $600).
I checked out the links, and they answered a few questions, but I still have a few, such as how much RWHP should I see by adding this mod? Which is better (and whats the difference) between the alky system and the methanol injection sytem? Will doing this result in more boost? Is there a kit made to automatically come on after I attain a certain level of boost? I already have a HOBBS switch that kicks in my 2nd fuel pump at 4 #'s of boost, it would be nice to have the meth kick in at this time as well, but ideally I'd like an easy kit to install and not one having me run wires everywhere.
One last thing, how big is the tank that holds the fluid? I have heard of some guys using their wiper resevour, however I threw mine out when I put in my FMIC
. How often do you need to fill the tank?

. How often do you need to fill the tank?Benefits of alky/water/meth injection is you can incease your timing which will yield significant power gains. As to how much... dont know...but I think 30-50rwhp is reasonable. Boost wont increase on its own. You can run more boost with less chance of detonation with the injection kits, or run the same boost and increase timing... both will yield more power.
Most of the kits have an adjustable activation switch that allows for coming on at a certain boost level.
The size of the tanks should be listd on their site, some use containers while others utilize the windshield washer tank. Hopefully others will chime in.
Talk to Julio at AlkyControl. I've heard they have an excellent kit. Regarding your setup, as I recall, you're already running quite a bit of timing. I've always thought of alky as a way to reduce an engines propensity for detonation rather than as a power adder. I would think the easiest way to gain 50+ HP would be to drop the timing down and use a small shot of N20.

Exactly right...hence the reason why you can push more timing at the same boost level or push more boost... both of which will yield significant power on a FI engine. Its not a power adder, but it lets you make more power

N2O isn't cheap to do right as some of the guys will attest to, whereas adding water/alky injection is several hundred dollars and the price of a tune, which you need with N2O also. With the water/alky (BTW, meth is alky), the benefits are to reduce the detonation while running more timing as mentioned, but the major power gains come from leaning out your fuel. That is a step a lot of guys skip, so they are just really keeping out of detonation and also running too rich. you have to run leaner than you normally would with a blower and you need to failsafe the injection kit to pull timing back out if anything goes wrong with the flow or pressure or else you WILL detonate with the advanced timing and lean mixture. The boost referenced kits are adjustable for what boost level it comes on and ramps up to another boost set point where it is fully on. You adjust the amount with the nozzles and some pumps are adjustable for pressure. There are also MAF referenced kits for NA and some other kits that just use a switch to sense boost then they come fully on.
How much do these kits cost on average? Also, as mentioned, I am already at a decently high level of timing for my car, will I still gain HP without advancing the timing? (don't know if I really can advance it much if any further)
snow performance makes a killer meth kit that has a small tank that will last about 3-4 weeks depending on driving style. meth makes its power from increased timing and slightly leaner afrs(be carefull with slightly). i noticed a 6 hp difference no tuning with 5psi kit to over 45hp conservative tune. only at 300 hp to start. i have seen kits not setup right cause power loses. kit costs around 400-500. has a nice boost referenced module that you can adjust pulse width start and full on. hint- start at 2lbs and have max on at highest boost to start. up timing 2 degrees keep afr same. that is a good safe start with a small gain. good luck. btw nitrous is very fun though
Again, looking for an "easy" 30-50 RWHP gain here, so adding some N20, as cheap as it is, will still be over my budget for the HP gain. I am pretty much set on just meth injection, I just need to find a good kit. I have heard a few people reference snow performance as an inexpensive place to get the kit. However I have also heard some people on this board (whom I highly respect their word over others) who said that the snow performance kit is almost "too cheep". I am looking for something that is above all else (even price), a good meth injection kit.
If my car will be eventually tuned on the methanol injection, does that mean I will have to run the methanol injection every time I open it up to WOT? Or is it possible to use it only when I want without doing any damage? I remember someone saying something about fail safe's that retart timing when the meth runs out or isn't working. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Having said that, you could probably use some sort of nitrous style timing retard box that could be hooked into the alky low circuit and retard timing when you run out of meth. But that is not going to be found in any kits that I am aware of.
Personally, I like the alky control kit. I have heard nothing but good things, and have had personal success with it as well.

$530 bucks if you need a 3-bar map sensor. The kit uses a GM 3-bar map sensor for boost sensing.
