Lt1 + Vortech....?

Hey guys, I was wondering what horse power numbers were for a basic LT1 with a Vortech. Then I also wondered what the numbers were for a Stroker LT1 or Stroker LT1 Vortech. And what are some horse power numbers of a seriously upgraded LT1 with and with out Vortech? Thanks for the input.

0 hp after start up,seriouslly.LT1 are 10.5:1 compression stock. Some people get away with 4.5 lbs of boost, even with that you have to be careful of detonation. Now if you built a stroker and lowered compressioin with forged goodies it would be a different story.

I've been running a 7 psig Vortech on my stock internal LT1 since 1997. I don't drive the car much though. I've put maybe around 25,000 on the car since the install of the Vortech. Car is over 3800 lbs and ran 12.8 at 112mph with zero tuning so there is definitely more in it. I think that is around 425 hp or so.

On the flip side, I have a 383 going in the car that has 500 miles on it. It was previously in another Camaro with a Vortech and it made 610 rwhp. I should be able to duplicate that with my setup.

So, you can have a wide range of hp numbers with the Vortech... just depends on how crazy you want to get

I'll move this over to the Forced Induction forum...

So is this 383 a TPI (throttle body)or LT1 setup or is it a carbourated setup?I'm still up in the air on what to throw in my 3rd gen. I like the raw power of the 383 stroker, but if you can stroke out an LT1 would that have more horse power ? Every book I read really hasn't gave me an answer on which engine would be best.

Buy the stroker.

You'll make less HP but you have faster ETs. Blowers are a pain in the ***.

For a 3rd gen, I'd switch to a 406 and put the blower on it.
