LT1 STS turbo kit with Kooks long tubes

Yes another STS question, from what I have been reading on this site I have to use an LS1 kit to clear my long tubes. Is that correct? I can't seem to find any pictures of how the LT1 kit runs to the front of the car, I called STS and they said that the LT1 kit will clear my long tubes no problem. Does the LS1 kit have everything I need as far as getting to the throttle body and fitting correctly?

I am also was wondering about my SLP loudmouth exhaust, does STS give you the cat back exhaust tubing or will I have to cut my SLP? From the pictures I have seen everybody has the stock catback and it looks like the STS just replaces the muffler. If any LT1 guys that have the STS kit and have pictures I would like to see them. Thanks for the help guys

Thanks for the reply, although for as much as I payed for my Kooks long tubes and as much as they sucked to install I have NO plans of removing them for manifolds that I just took off. So I need to know if the kit will clear the headers, I am mostly concerned about the pipe that comes up the drivers side and the turns to go to the throttle body. That is where I think I will have problems.

Anybody have pictures of their sts setups? Thanks

ok ok il clear it up bro. you will use the LS1 cold side pipes. id really like to have the LT1 style but like you it wont clearn my headers. the lt1 cold side pipe WILL NOT clear your headers. as far as having long tubes you will lose some exhaust heat and volume but just do like the rest of us and wrap your exhaust with heat wrap. you will prolly have to get another exhaust pipe from the cat back to the turbo though. there are some old pics on my cardomain in my sig. dont mind the exhaust clamps that hook the stock exhaust pipe to the turbo pipe those were just to get the car from my house to my ole mans to get welded.

Thanks, those are the kind of pictures I was looking for. I actully like how it looks up top better than the lt1 kit anyways. Also when you say I will use the ls1 cold pips, is the rest of the kit differant than the lt1 kit? What I mean is that if I just buy the ls1 kit it will have everything i need? Doese the ls1 throttle body boot fit or did you modify it? And all of the oil fittings are correct? Sorry for all of the questions, I don't like surprises with a $4,000 purchase. Thanks again

ehh.... buy a supercharger man if your headers are that important.... you will be dissapointed iwth the turbo system... n top of hat 4.10's are not the right gearin for a turbo...

If you go turbo you will end up being another one of the *****s who didn't listen to us... and jsut did it anyways then you will end up all over the net saying how bad rear mounts suck and blah blah... and it all was cuz you were too cool too listen to FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!

some people ended up being happy with their headers.. but 99.9% will not be happy with em.

or just do like me and change your rear end gears. if you are going to spend 4k on a turbo setup why not go ahead and spend another 600 for gears? look if you want the kit get it dont let people talk you out of it. its your money. i dont have a propblem with headers on my setup but mine are AS&Ms though. just gotta remember that you are not gonna catch boost really quick untill the exhaust heats up. i was getting full boost at like 3k with my kits so the lag rumors are 1/2 b/s. yes the rest of the kit will be fine when i orderd my kit i just talked to the rep and got the LS1 kit.

I also have another question, after searching around on here it seems to me that I will need a TR6 plug gapped at around .35. Question is that something that needs to be done at 6psi? Is is possible to leave my new set of TR55s in with the stock .50 gap? Also at what boost levels does the LT1 ignition system experiance spark blowout? I am assuming I don't need to worry about it at the moment.

Also 255lph in tank fuel pump is on the way, plan on using flow matched 42lb injecters. Then getting dynotune.

mine are at .030 thats what you should prolly do yours. dont keep the .050 or it wont run good even at lower bost. it wont hurt to pull your plugs and regap.
