LT1 S-Trim and aftermarket K-member guys inside. Question please..

Looking for some info from some LT1 guys with a Vortech setup and aftermarket K-member (say like a BMR or similar). How much more room did you gain, if any, on the chargers intake side of things. Its very tight trying to run the vortech's intake tube past the K-member and the steering rack down below and was wondering if you pick up room here going to an aftermarket K-member. And also, how much of a weight savings is the aftermarket vs the stock K-member. Getting ready to pull my engine and would like to go this route while it's out. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd agree, there's a significant improvement in room/access...however, a lot of us have since gone a different route with the intake ducting; i.e. custom solid tubes pr Brad Brand tubes, etc. so it's hard to gauge exactly how much more room. The BMR k-member was one of the best access mods I've ever done.

I don't think there's more room for the intake pipe because the steering rack is the biggest obstruction. Now, spark plug, header bolt, starter, and oil pan access is improved 1000%.
