LT1 head gaskets
Re: LT1 head gaskets
I had my old gaskets but I think I must have left them at the machine shop. Everytime it blew the gasket would not rip, it would push the fire ring into the cooling ports.
I got the car running and im not very happy with those cometics. All my intake push rods hit the gasket by just a hair. So now with the car running it sounds like a jiffy pop under the hood
Im sick of working on it now but I will have to pull the rockers and file the gasket down.

Can someone tell me the part # of the Felpro gasket you are using. I got my Felpro gasket from Advance Auto for about $18 each. Of course I had issues with them. Is there a better one you guys are using?

Re: LT1 head gaskets
i dont know if anybody here has heard of this but some of the local, high HP, boosted cars in the the area have tried it with some success.
assemble and get it running. make a dyno pass make sure its a safe tune not on the edge, let it cool down. put alumiseal (the stop-leak stuff from autozone) and re-torque the headbolts.
just a suggestion to throw around, a good friend of mine did this and has had no problems with Fel-Pro's.

Anyway the car is back and running stronger then ever. After a few passes the head gaskets stopped making noise
