Lt1 Fmic ?????
Lt1 Fmic ?????
What kind should you get? Where should you get all the piping and clamps? Is this better than getting a ATI 2 core or twin highflow?? Will be used with P1SC or D1SC.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Lt1 Fmic ?????
You wont notice much difference until you are running say, upwards of 12-14psi?
There are ALOT of guys still using the twin hi-flows with good results, so if you can get em, at a good price, I say go for it.
Inless you want to make a real nasty blower car for street use with pump gas( With like at least 12 PSI ) , I say the extra cash for a FMIC is over rated. On the flip side of things, a FMIC opens up a whole new set of possibilities. They really do work extremely well.
Keep your eye open in the FS section. I seen twin hi flows on there a while back for like $200 ...

The place above has hoses, connectors, etc. I found most of the places I use by using Google or searching Ebay for "FMIC". Also try EPP. (Exotic Performance)

Re: Lt1 Fmic ?????
Chaulk up another vote for EPP. They have a killer deal on their FMIC. They also have some good info regaurding supercharged LT1's with intercoolers.
IMO, (from what I have personally seen) if you are running anything more than 8#'s of boost, the twin high flow intercoolers just aren't enough for the LT1's to keep from detonation. So unless you are only looking to run like 6#'s or so, I would highly reccomend a large FMIC. The unit isn't too bad price wise from EPP, but it can be a pain getting all the metal piping fabricated to your supercharger since there is no specific FMIC kit for the LT1's. But many of us on the FI forum have done it including myself, and can attest that it is the best way to go.

They have some alot of good info on that site ... Seems like more of a been there done that kind of shop where you can get good advise if you want it. Seems a little better than the rejects you talk to at Jegs/Summit.
Re: Lt1 Fmic ?????
anyone use a PWR air-water barrel intercooler? It seems like you can fit the biggest (8"x10" core, 4" inlet/outlet, 21" length overall) in front by simply trimming an 8" diameter hole out of the styrofoam bumper support.

I'd like to try that on my formula with a big reservoir and cooler... Just wondering if anyone has tried it already.
