LT1 castings.
LT1 castings.
I'm building a stroker this year with plans of an SC next year (D1SC I'm thinking). My goal is 650 Rwhp, through a built A4 & 12 bolt. My question right now is, is it worth it to port LT1 heads, or even attainable with ported LT1 heads? I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to get some trickflows/AFR's when my goal is 650 rwhp, no more.
These heads will be on a 383 stroker, N/A with maybe a bit of N20 for a year, then next year I will be doing the SC.
Opinions?

depends on how much boost you want to run, but thats basically the EXACT same plan I'm looking at following. going ported LT4's, forged 383 with low compression pistons this summer with nitrous until I can add a D1SC next year. I also have similar HP goals, planning on no more than 15# boost. only difference is I'll be keeping the T-56, not sure on 12-bolt or 9" yet. the research I've done says that is attainable, obviously dependant on boost levels, but ported LT1s should be able to take care of the job. with that said, it will probably be doable at slightly lower boost levels with aftermarket heads.
It's definitly possible. I'm running ported LT1 castings on my setup. 9:1cr on 14psi, it ran around 635rwhp. I think i can get more out of it too with a little more tuning and bagging my 52mm TB in favor or a 58mm. Could have probably got more then that also, but i'm not running a super agressive cam cause i wanted it more streetable and easier to tune. They were done by Golen engines old head porter. He's using LE heads now and i'm sure 650 would be no problem with those heads.

I think thats what we both like to hear. I'm planning on having Lloyd do my heads when the time comes.
And I was as well. I've actually been considering the built engine offered by golen for FI applications, but man, $8,500 is a lot of dough. I was then going to find an F-bod with a blown motor and swap my old one in there, or try and sell it, not sure. If not, I will problably get the short block for $4,000.
