Met a gentleman last night that had a C6 with a magnacharger that he says is pushing 9# of boost. He stated otherwise stock motor. He claimed 582rwhp and 600+lb/ft tq. Claimed top speed of 231mpg. First, is 9# of non-intercooled boost with no meth/water going to see that much power; will a stock LS2 bottom end support 9# (he claimed it could handle 15), and is an otherwise stock vette capable of 231mph with only 582hp????

I threw the bs flag as best as I could being politically correct, but he stood by it....

 

It might do it once or twice before something comes apart. Don't know where he got the top speed number - it was probably theoretical, rather than actual, unless he is more skilled and has a better car than John Lingenfelter and his TT Vette when he did 226 or whatever it was. You were probably right to raise the BS flag.

 

I can see the power numbers...but that's not enough power to get up to 231mph. I couldn't tell you what the number is, but that's not it.

 

should be closer to 1000hp or so to get that kind of speed...that movin

 

yeah, I think it was a road and track mag, that did a "speed kings" test:

Lingenfelter Corvette - 800bhp, and it got up to 201 in mile's distance...it probably could've gone quicker, but after a mile it had to quit.

 

OK, I feel more justified. Next month if he is out, I will raise the bs flag. I don't mind someone stating best case scenarios, but he had me with 9# and 15# doable on a stock bottom end, and then 200+ mph in a stock vette with sub 600hp.....

9# can be...possible but only with a super good intercooler, and even then I'd say your pushing it.
but 15#...No way in Heaven of Hell, would I ever put 15# into a bone-stock motor. Never. I don't care what the compression ratio is - but especially not in an LS2. I would've called bs right there.

 

Can't have an intercooler, unless it is water/meth. It is a magnacharger. It did look bad a$$, but still, old man with pipe dreams.

You all are not too educated with what the LS1 can do with boost.

Go to LS1tech and read up... Sounds right. I dunno about the top speed but i wouldn't doubt the car beyond that. We as the LT1 are a HUGE underdog.

 

I dunno man. I have an LS1 and I have boost. 5# and I did not get any where near 582hp.....and I have intercoolers.....

 

The guy is an idoit...

 

The bottom end can take it for awhile, Jim at turbo connections made over 800rwhp on a stock long block ls2 in his gto.
