Low boost with T-trim, any ideas?
Low boost with T-trim, any ideas?
I was curious on how much boost you guys see with your t-trim. I know boost is a measurement of resistance to air flow, but I doubt Ive got this good of flow. I have the 6.66 crank and 2.75 head pullys with the 8 rib belt and only see about 6 Lbs. Ive checked all intake tubing connections, belt tightness, and bypass valve. I was just expecting to so around 12-15 lbs, so Im lost at this point. The engine mods are in the sig, but it is a 383 with LT4 intake and heads, and a pretty healthy blower cam, forget the specs, but just a lil smaller then the 847. Any input appreciated.
Yea you have something wrong. Slipping belt, BOV leaking, coupler leak, messed up filter or intake pipe, etc. . . I had the T-trim with 6.66/2.75 pullies and it made 13 psi on a 383 with AFR210's and a 224/236 cam.

The belt is real tight, like almost impossible to get on. Im running an aftermarket bypass valve, but I was thinking bout switching back to the bosch unit to see it that helps. Ive got the heavy duty t-bar hose clamps. Did you have to do anything special to see your 13 lbs?
What kind/size intake tube and air filter are you running? You'll actually loose quite a bit of boost if the diameter is too small, poor flow characteristics, air filter too small ect. 4" intake with the largest K&N you can fit in there is a good setup for the T. Also what the others have said. I'd also double check the BPV to make sure it's not leaking under boost. If your belt is slipping, you'll soon see the belt dust build up around the pulley on the charger.

Im running the stock vortech intake piping. I know it is restrictive, but not 8 lbs restrictive. The BPV isnt leaking and neither is any of the intake piping. Checked all vacuum lines and check valves with all working properly. Then only thing posibbly left is belt slipping. So what are my options to remedy this problem? Cog belt setup seems to be overkill. And if it isnt belt slipage, what the hell could it be? Maybe send the blower into Vortech to be tested?
Dunno, still lost. Missing 100-200 hp sucks.

Like i said, you will see belt dust building up if your belt is slipping. As for the intake, i picked up a little over 4lbs just replacing the stock vortech setup with a hard 4" setup with a larger filter. And thats with my MAF still down on the suck side. Would probably be even more if i moved it to the pressure side.
