Go down through this thread and look at the videos of this car. Unfortunately, it has a a blown engine now!

SGfuryZ- When we started this discussion it was unclear what exact specs you were shooting for. Although it sounded like you wanted a fairly lopey cam since you didnt care about having it OPTIMAL. Its no secret that turbo motors like the exhaust manifold pressure a bit higher than the intake boost pressure. But when you throw a high overlap, long duration cam into the piucture a huge amount of reversion will be the result. This all equals less power. And I dont know about you, but I like to spend my money on HP and to get the most I can. I could really care less about a lopey cam when Im blowing past some old school motor head that thinks lope equals power. Also, running 9's in an F-body is no small endevor either. I think you will be disappoined if you stick with this lopey cam idea and dont do it right the first time. Just because some guy got it right, has no bearing on your project. Best of luck.

Re: Lopey idle on a turbo car...is it feasible?

Well, maybe I'm asking the wrong question. I mean, I do like lope, but all I'm really looking for is something that doesn't sound stock. I want to start it up and have people know it's not stock (as if the turbo wasn't enough... ). If you look at those videos someone posted, the cars have a choppy idle. You can tell it's not stock. So, my new question is, what spec on the cam gives those turboed cars a choppy idle? Better yet, could someone give me an example of a cam to acheive the sound like those found in the the previously posted videos??

I know what you want.

You want people to hear your exhaust and think; "Hey... that's not stock! What's he got in there?"

Just run an oversized muffler, no resonators and turn the idle up a bit. It won't be "lopey" but it won't sound stock either.

Just FYI, I'm already running a very unrestrictive exhaust. No cat, just headers, y-pipe, then about 18-24 inches of 3" pipe, finished off with an 18" Dynomax bullet muffler and muffler turndown. I don't have any exhaust beyond that (over the axle, tailpipe, etc.)

That'll all be replaced if you convert to a turbo. I was thinking more like 4" anyway, to get the backpressure down.
