Question larger throttle body

I'm having a debate with a friend on the benefits of moving to a larger TB on a low boost car.

My argument is that since the air is under pressure the gains from a larger TB are minimal at best. He is of the school that bigger is better.

Any thoughts?
Would a 380-400 rwhp car on 6#boost benefit from a move to a 52 or 58mm TB?

58 is way overkill for that app. I would think that the 52 is even pushing it for a blower setup of that hp level.

In last years configuration my car made 613rwhp (without the nitrous) using a stock TB and 14lbs of boost (with a small 214/224 cam). I wouldn't rush to replace it on a blower car.

Would same theory apply to draw-through application? Am running 58 mm TB on 8 lb Whipple setup on 383 and seeing boost decrease with slight decrease in TPS.

Thanks.

LOL, I've had this same debate with a friend of mine. I'm pushing 370+rwhp on a NA car with <gasp> shorty headers and I'm on the stock throttle body. IMHO the 1-3 hp gain that I "might" see is NOT worth the $300+ price tag of a larger throttle body.

Personally, I wouldn't even consider a larger TB until I reach the 600+rwhp range on a blown/turbo car.

Do yourself a favor and put the money somewhere else. You'll be glad you did.
