97ChameleonTA,
You will LOVE THEM! I have them in my new combination and the first thing that I noticed between those pistons and a few others is absolutely no piston slap. They are very pricey though, I'll admit that. However, what modification isn't? LOL.
Here is a picture of my 17cc piston what cc are you going to be running and what CR?
Cheers,
Tim

I'm running a 16CC dish in these as well which will put me right at 9:1. The only reason I switched was for fear of popping the SRP's, they are only rated to 15psi and I plan on running a lil' bit more than that.
BTW, those pics are gorgeous! Give Jess a kick in the head for me when you see him.

I find it hard to believe they are only rated at "xx" psi and that's not normal. CP's (Modmax as I know them) are very VERY good pistons and can last through some serious boost. The only pistons I know of that are truly better are the diamonds. By the way, my turd gets tuned 20July and I've switched to new combination as well (all new forged internals, billet blower cams, ferrera oversized valves, etc, etc, etc). Can't wait to see what kind of #'s it puts down (fuel system will be my hold back I think). Anyway, hopefully I'll see Jess again soon he helped me with a water leak problem at my house recently.
P.S. What is the rest of your combination? You running manley "H" beam rods? What blower?
Cheers,
Tim
You also can't go wrong with JE, my personal favorite. The thing is, you need a piston appropriate for your use, no matter who makes it. Blower/turbo pistons need to be beefier in the crown and pin boss area as well as the material used, poistion of the top ring, etc.

Good luck with your tuning, you'll hafta let me know what you end up getting out of it. Enquiring minds wanna know!
The rest of my combo is:
LT1 block bored .030" over
Lunati Pro Mod 4340 crank - 3.75"
Lunati Pro Mod 4340 rods - 5.85"
Milodon Splayed caps
AFR LT1 190's - worked
Cam Motion custom turbo cam
FAST w/Bothwell Lynkx for sequential
Still debating on 83 or 96lbs injectors
Innovative GT80DBB R-trim turbo
3 core A2W intercooler
321SS custom headers and DP
And a ton of other stuff
Rich, I hear you on the JE's, that was what I was gonna go with but ended up getting talked into the CP's.

Sounds like a stout combination and wish you the best of luck with it. Post up some #'s when you get them.
Cheers,
Tim
You do know that there are JE pistons other than the JE/SRP pistons right? They are much stronger than the sportsman racing series...

Yes, I do know that JE's are different than the SRP's even though they are the same company. I was leaning heavily towards the JE's until I was talked into the CP's by a good friend who has had nothing but success with them in his cars.
I'm hoping i'll be just as impressed with them.

Figured I'd give you an update since you asked for it on my dynotune. I went yesterday to Kauffman Motorsports in Dillsburg, Pa with a little over 300 miles on the new engine. First run we pulled 390rwhp, richen it up a bit, then pulled 401rwhp, then play with tune a bit more and pulled 456.9rwhp/388rwtq. Could only go up to 6000 rpm because fuel system is not up to par (walbro 255 inline/walbro 255 intank) and as boost continued to rise, fuel pressure dropped (not good) so we aborted and called it a day with that # 456.9rwhp/388rwtq and detuned it a little bit, changed shift points, etc (will ensure it shifts before 6k).
I had no idea that it would be making this kind of power honestly with a little 281ci engine. Car was making approx 12/13 psi of boost at 6k and max torque was right around 5500. I suspect my low torque reading was due to the small stall size and from what I've learned, auto's are mysterious on the dyno (I use the dyno for tuning only and the track to find out what it really does). All in all, great time and beautiful drive and awesome people.
Builder says this turd should spin to 6700/6800 no problemo with the ferrera oversized valves, comp springs but to be honest, I'm happy where it is and the power level (450+rwhp on street driven car isn't too shabby). Tuner wants me to come back with upgraded pump, bigger injectors, bigger MAF, braided line to make 500+ rwhp but again, I'm pleased right now and not ready to spend more $$$$$. I'm sure you can understand what I mean, right? LOL.
Sorry for the length but wanted to give you a heads up on my CP Pistons and total setup and how it's done for me. I'm very pleased with driveability, idle, startup and it's making boost very fast (spinning the wheels on the dyno is NUTS!!! I have most of this on video but need somewhere to host it since my site will eat bandwidth quickly).
Hope your setup runs great as well.
Best Wishes,
Tim
Re: Just ordered my custom CP pistons!
Holy Bejeebus!!!
And through an auto to boot. That's impressive as hell.
What is your plans for the fuel system and what injectors are you running now? And what is your compression ratio? Room for more boost? It'd be impressive to see what kind of numbers you could get with a full wrap to 67-6800.
How big is the vid? I can probably host it for you on BADRAP.
Again, a big congrats on those numbers!

I have 3 or 4 different videos (total video was 34megs haha). Each video is around 1.5-2 megs in size.
My plans for fuel system right now? Leave it. In the future, I will go to SS -8 AN, sumped tank, aeromotive 1000 (or possibly bosch 390), braided line from tank to the rail, upgraded rails (I already have a set of Steeda hi-flo that will flow more then my car will ever make ---must have been intuition), 60# injectors, bigger MAF (probably 87mm).
CR is approx 8.9:1 give or take (probably a little lower then that).
Yes there is tons of room for more boost and I'm running 3.1" RR ultra-grip pulley and once you see the video you'll see the car goes to 10psi, then all the sudden hits 12/13 and the fuel pressure starts suddenly dropping and he had to let out a little early. I have no doubt with good fuel system it will make around 15psi and should see 500+ to the wheels @ 6700/6800.
I'd appreciate it if you can host it on your site that would be great. Contact me on AOL and I can transfer it to you (can't do it via email cause they are too big).
P.S. The blower is absolutely screaming at idle and there is no hiding it --- no sleeper effect

Thank you!
Cheers,
Tim
