Intercooler for Powerdyne Supercharger
Intercooler for Powerdyne Supercharger
I have a 95 z28 and it currently has a 4 1/2 psi pulley on it.. The car has alot done including lt4 intake, headers, bored, msd ignition, high flow cats, borla exhaust, B&M short throw, aluminum headers, water pump, powerdyne supercharger the list goes on...I need to know if I can safely run a 6 psi pulley on the motor.. I know it had one on for a short while and then it was taken off. The motor and tranny where rebuilt about 20K ago... If I run the 6 psi pulley do I need an intercooler.... Oh yeah and if someone could answer this it would be greatly appreciated... I put a new vac/boost and air fuel guage in the car...the highest the car will boost is around 2psi????? at idle the vac is around 18-20... I'm not sure what compression the engine is at as of now because the someof the work was done before I owned it.. thanks, beau
Re: Intercooler for Powerdyne Supercharger
Where is the boost sensor mounted? If it's in the intake, then you may only be seeing only 2 psi of boost at the manifold. Which brings up my next point. The Powerdyne moves too little air IMO. Upping the boost with a pulley just delivers heated air...
Re: Intercooler for Powerdyne Supercharger
I've got the 6 lb pulley and it only reads 4 psi on my boost guage.
I even replaced the intake tube with a 4" unit fabbed out of white PVC fittings (Filter,3" to 4" adapter,4" tube,4" to 3" street elbow to blower intake) from Home Depot like someone suggested in another thread.
The 6 lb pulley is totally safe but I have a Madwolf tune.
I think I'm gonna run the 9 psi pulley and hook up my water injection unit to cool the incoming air. Then hopefully I'll get the 6 psi safely I'm looking for.

Re: Intercooler for Powerdyne Supercharger
wow. are powerdynes really that bad?
my $800 ($800 for the entire kit) ball-drive paxton with its stock (6 psi) pulley reads right at 6psi in the intake manifold. I know it's not top of the line, but at least it performs as advertised.
