Intercooler, Alcohol injection or both...

Your thoughts and opinions?

I will probably be using both, but.. just wanted your heads up if you can eliminate the intercooler with the alcohol injection.

Thanks

If you're using alcohol that will take the place of an intercooler, but I do belive u can use both if u want which can probably tolerate a little more compression too.

I have 2 setups.. one which is 11:1 CR and 8psi boost on an LS7 (friend of mine) and the other one is mine which is 9:1... with... well hopefully 16-18psi boost... using the same supercharger both.

I wanted to remove the A/A IC and the A/W from both setups and use solely the Methanol.

I say both. I have a a dual nozzle alky control kit on full tilt with a maxed out T trim. I am seeing just under 200deg at the top of a gear. Needless to say I am looking at doing an intercooler setup.

I don't like Methanol. It's not as reliable as a good intercooler.

I have a larger water/air. With that an Methanol, I can get IAT's 10 deg below ambient at 17 psi boost. However, I've had way too many incidents of the Meth not coming on like it should. I'm in the process of tuning the Meth out of my system. Want a complete Meth kit?

I have a complete kit from alkyl control on both. The Z06 is working and the other day something was off. But on the vette the a/a stopsflow to the radiator and it heats up too much for my taste and i was thinking on removing the aa on both cars for simplicity

The meth kits are anything but simple.

jaja.. well.. it's something less in the car. Less plumbing, less tubes. I could re-relocated the battery to the front and not have excess weight from the A2W system...

But i guess i'll keep both...

Use both, When oure FMIC ( OBX ) couldnt handle the heat we put in a M15 nozzle and the heating problem was eliminated.

Or convert it to E85 and save 25lbs in the front

One little warning aboute waterinjection, Check hoses and fittings after every race or change them to steelbraided ones. Those plastic ones doesent hold for ever, have had 2 leaks know (3 years), the first one didnt do any damage, the second one sprayed a fine mist in front of my right rear tyre and http://www.nonameracing.se/index.php?p=1_39&p2=2

I'm planning on running only water injection for now for simplicity's sake. I'm running an F-1 on a 383 LT1, should be around 12-15# boost. The real test will be next summer in the heat. If temps start to get out of hand I'll go ahead and pull the front end back off and build up an intercooler setup. For now though, injection should be more than enough.
