Important advice for those with Vortech's and shorties
While driving down the road last Friday, my car started spewing blue smoke. About 10 seconds later, the oil pressure went to zero. I killed it and coasted off an exit and parked it.
After trailering the car home, I discovered that the supercharger oil feed line had ruptured. Even though it had the supplied heat shield sleeve on it, it had hardened due to heat, cracked, and ruptured, emptying the contents of my oil pan onto the bottom of the car.
As a fix, I replaced the line with a 4' long -4 NOS braided stainless line. I also made an L-shaped bracket that I bolted to an oil pan bolt. I tie wrapped the hose to the bracket to hold it against the oil pan rail which keeps it as far away from the header as possible.
