Importance of mandral bending in FI setup?

Is there really a great need for mandral bending in a forced induction setup? I can understand in structural applications like a roll cage where weak points can be a safetly/quality problem. But in F/I where only 15-20psi(normaly) is being pushed through steel pipe, is it really necessary to spend extra money on mandral bends if you are doing the work yourself? Just trying to find the cheapest way.. no harm in that
Thanks for your time,
-Tony

No one is holding a gun to your head.............
Keep in mind that mandrel bends do flow a considerable amount better. You would be leaving HP on the table of you use muffler shop bends.

^agreed. I don't know why anyone would settle on those crimped up bends available at your local muffler shop. Performance is decreased compared to mandrel bends. Save the extra money and do it right. Structuraly though, they would be fine.

I have a variety of 3" mandrel bends that I used on a previous project. They were powder coated and have tabs welded on to keep the connections together under high boost. Let me know what you need and I'll see if I have something that'll help.
