Importance of intake piping and couple other Q's

alright, i was pretty dissappointed in my times with the vortech now that i got it to the track (8.6@81) and was trying to think what it could possibly be then the intake piping leading to the s/c got me thinking...it has a 180* bend and 2 90* bends, and all together about 6ft of piping...would this affect my power at all?

my mods are S-Trim @ 5#, 2400 stall, tuning, and a straight pipe. in comparison, my buddy's 94 A4 on 5# went 7.6 with 2800 stall, long tubes, and 3" cat back..am i really losing that much power with the stock exhaust system?

...true true.....you are putting all that air and fuel in ...and it has no place to go after it burns..

and a hard pipe on the back or the blower like the brad brand one will net you a few more psi and that will make more power...

so i am possibly loosing a pound or 2 of boost due to the intake piping before the supercharger? it does make sense, but just clarifying.

thanks for the input.

im sure thats part of the prob.............superchargers NEED a nice big exhaust system.........just like a blower cam has a lot more exhaust duration than intake duration.

youre basically giving the motor constipation...it just cant get it out!

I noticed a big difference when I switch to solid tubing on my Procharger. The soft rubber elbow will partially collapse under boost, choking off the motor.

Exhaust and stall will make a huge difference on a blower car. A similar setup to mine, except w/ LTs(I had stock manifolds) picked up 40+hp over mine.
