I need a turbo Kit

I sold the procharger and now want to do a turbo setup. With so many kits out there what kit do you all reccomend? Ive looked at a few. FFF, PTK, and turbo tech. I want to stay away from STS. Let me know which kits to check out and which to stray from.

First thing I would ask is do you have an LT-1 or LS-1. I decided to go with PTK. I purchased the Gen 2 W2A w/ a T-76GTS head unit. The kits are hand built and are of VERY high quality. The gains that are being made a unbelievable. Talk to Jose, owner of Forced Inductions. He is ultra knowledgable on anything turbo. He also is a direct dealer for PTK. Visit Forced Inductions web site www.forcedinductions.com to see what their customers are making on the dyno and at the track! Depending on your power goals, jose can set you up with the proper turbo for your application. One more thing, PTK & Joses customer service is top notch. Hard to come by these days. Granted there are other kits, but few have delivered what PTK is capable of.

Re: I need a turbo Kit

I have yet to recieve my kit. The kit does come with install directions ( which every kit should have). This kit, although expensive ( I spent 4,700 w/o the turbo) does contain pretty much everything you will need for a COMPLETE installation. I decided to upgrade to the W2A($400) and a Tail 50mm BOV. One thing about turbo kits, they are $$$. And thats not even taking into account, fuel system, ECU, Engine build and on and on. If you have the means, I HIGHLY recommend PTK. This is a case of you get what you pay for. And with these kits, you dont get some cookie cutter turbo. They dont come with a turbo for a reason. PTK wants you to have a say in what you want out of the turbo kit. After you decide, you can even get it shipped with the kit as one order. Very nice to have time to make up your mind.

Re: I need a turbo Kit

If you have the time/ skill you could build your own. That's the way I am going. I finally got my turbo after months of delays, and I should be starting on the hot side next week. I am estimating that the total cost of tubing is arround $500 (not including coating). It's hard to tell what my final project cost will be because of all the extras but currently I have: T-88 ($2400), HKS GT-II 60mm waste gate ($700), apexi AVCR boos controller ($350), and estimate $1300 for the front mount intercooler and tubing... thats $5250 so far. For the BOV (Tial), guages, fuel pump upgrade, and injectors thats about $2400 more, and I bought a FAST system from a board member so that would make my turbo kit about $8650. I don't know what all is included with the PTK kit, but making your own hot side will save you a bunch of money, leaving the rest of the budget to better (higher end) parts. Of course I could shave a bunch of money off of my project cost, but I like high end parts and I am willing to pay for them, (I don't expect many people to spend about $1K on guages, but if you want to check out Defi) Good luck with your project I hope it goes well for ya.
