I LOVE my P1SC
I LOVE my P1SC
Thanks to a few tuning buddies... I managed to eek 410rwhp and 420rwtq out of my 1994 T/a w/ it's BONE STOCK LT1, Hooker LT's, plugs, slipping A4 and catback. This was on an honest dyno, that gets checked against engine dyno's and race slips at Pro Tech in Mississauga, ON. And you should see my torque curve!!
Now I just have to get the car to work, cause it is killing my ET and MPH. Gears wrong, Converters wrong, tires wrong, tranny's wrong. Don't ask. I'm still not pleased. Blower is there, car isn't!
But there is no real point in throwing $$$ into a tranny and rear that are getting replaced entirely.
This is definitely enough blower to accomplish my goals this winter.

Hey Steve: that's really good to hear. Autos kill dyno numbers, and you are already making nearly as much hp as I made with a stock headed, low CR 383 and an S-trim with an M6 way back when.
What are your eventual plans for a tranny? I may have some input based on my own M6/TH400 experience.

Well... converter-wise, I have no clue. No sense buying one (unless I find on CHEAP), as it looks like I am going TH400 after the winter. For what I want, the gear ratio's look to be pretty good, plus, it'll hold up.
Fred- my 6psi Charger made good power before hand too- but it just wasn't consistant. We were able to nab another 20rw out of the pig, and I know there is at least 10-15 more in it. But after 13 pulls, and 5 hours on the dyno... well, it was just time to quit.
This week, the pig is getting 4.10's and a 28" tall tire- so I hope to be able to nab a 12.30/12.40 @ 115 on a stock motor, with 6psi and stock tranny/converter. I think the car has an 11 in her, IF I was dumb enough to blow money on my soon to be replaced tranny.
We'll see. I can't wait!

By the way- just for fun. On my first couple runs- the car pulled a 13.0 @ 108 on an 8:1 fuel ratio, fouled plugs, and a 3/4" vacuum leak cause the boost popped a cap off the side of my intake and I didn't notice it.
The car has since run a skating 12.62 @ 113 on a 3.42, stock tranny/converter and no traction. Vince drove it, cause my 60's suck. I can't drive!!
My goal is to hit 115 by the winter. My goal is to have the motor done by May, tranny and rear to follow.
THANKS to Vince and John @ Pro Tech!!

No shid!!! What a small world!!! haha.
Cool! I had no idea you spent time on the forum. You have a sweet ride, thats for sure.
Hows your car running? Vince made mine drive like STOCK. He kicks *** when it comes to programming. My car hasn't blown up (yet, knock on wood), it drives great, and has a FLAT torque peak. I make 400 ft/lbs from 3500 (where the car was punched on the dyno) to 5600 rpm. Its like a table. I know vince did the same for you too. No peak, just power.

dyno
Yeah first pull I made approx 400/400 last pull I made 416.8hp and 437.5 torque i was impressed, defanetly the cheapest performance improvement yet.
I was more impressed that you made it to mississuga with it running that rich.
good luck selling the fmu and fuel injectors i can vouch for their new like apperance.
You decide on your new motor goals yet?
btw your friend said he wanted my email feel free to give it to him.

Yeah, a little. lol.
I was so annoyed with the car that I hadn't driven it in 2 weeks. Now I just gotta change the oil, and be off.
As for the motor- still the same.
9's on a 355. Not sure which head we're going with yet. Might be less exotic than originally planned. Which i$ good for me.

Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I know I can achieve my goals with a 355- cause there are freakin 306 Mustangs running faster than what I want.
2. I don't think the extra torque will benefit me in any way.
3. It is cheaper. Even though I have to buy a crank, money is money. I'd rather dump it in boost and heads!
4. It is different than what most do.

You can easily change the oil seals yourself - they are a chicago rawhide part (or will cross to one).
The thing to watch out for on the ATI's (This was a D1 and p600b) were the bearings - on those two the parts both crossed to low quality Abec 1 units. Also the bearings did *not* have good thrust load ratings. You can cross them at any bearing shop to a speed rated unit, and though a bit pricey are probably a good upgrade.
Finally on the D1 the impeller wasn't even threaded to the shaft (like a decent turbo would be) - instead it was red loctited on - not even hardly a press fit. On the D1 a new shaft was made (billet) that was a better press fit, and it was secured with some loctite filling stuff that was recommended by purvis bearing (about 40 bucks a bottle). So far it hasn't leaked (200 miles) and boost response is good. FWIW this was the first time it made it more than 50 miles without leaking.
Now this is a high hp application - the it is set up for near max boost (saw 20psi), and it does have a manual tensioner (with alot of tension). In a low boost situation 5-8psi, etc. it probably would have been fine.
From what I have heard the newer F series units are supposto have rectified some of these issues.
