I know...another cam question...
I know...another cam question...
Here's what I've got. I'm building a 9:1 all forged 383 LT1 engine with LE2 heads 58mm throttle body. I have a T56 tranny with 3.42 rear gears. Here's the problem....this is all going into a 1977 Camaro and my budget says I can only do the engine now and I have to do the Turbo later. I would like to ultimately make @ 650+ to the rear wheels but I don't want a dog of an engine until I can install the turbo. I guess I'll be driving the car for about a year until that happens. I've been told that a 224/224 571 lift on a 114 is a good choice for the power I want. The real question is, will this engine make some decent power without boost until I can get it there? If this isn't a good choice, what would be better for what I want to do and why.
I would really appreciate some advice on this as my head hurts right now trying to read all of this and make some sense of it. Thanks
Bryan
BTW This is NOT a daily driver but I want to drive it as much as possible when I get it running.

Re: I know...another cam question...
Everything is always a compromise. If you're going to get a good deal on that cam and you are comfortable with it's specs, then get it. Frankly, it looks like it would work just fine with a 383 and LE2 heads and is actually a bit on the mild side. Not "grocery getter" mild mind you, just "hot rod" mild.
If and when you eventually get a turbocharger or supercharger and the manufacturer feels that you need a different cam, you can always do that and sell this cam one to offset the cost a few bucks.
And don't worry so much.
