How much psi will this push?

I am trying to get the parts togeather to build a 396 LT1. I dont have pistons yet, so I can play with compression ratios.
I have an ATI P600b on the car now. If I build the new motor with around 9.5-1 compression, how much boost will this blower push before reaching it's impeller limit?
Could it be pullied safely to push 8 lb on this motor?
Thanks
Stevie

I would say anywhere from 10-12lbs of boost.

I getting about 10-11 psi on my 355 with the "12 lb" pulley which is probably the most pulley you want to run with the P600. With the 396 it would probably be a little less boost. They make a 15 lb pulley but, at 6500 engine rpm its about the redline of the blower. You want a cam with little or no overlap also, more overlap and the more boost you will lose out the tailpipe.

Thanks, that is reassuring. Someone told me that it wouldnt make more than about 3-4lb of boost on a 396, I didn't think this was correct, but wanted to check.
I know I need to go with a bigger supercharger in the future, but dont have the money right now.
Anyone got any proven cam specs for a blown 396?
Thanks again

There is no such thing as proven blower cam. It really depends on your combination. How high do you plan on shifting your car? Is this going to be a daily driven car? One of the most popular blower cams is a 224/236 Comp Cam.

Just because the boost gauge doesn't read a lot of boost, doesn't mean it's not making a lot of power. 8# on a stock motor, may only show 4# on a built motor with better heads, larger chambers, etc.

I wouldn't go any larger than the 12# pulley from ATI. I know some people have went w/ the 15# from ASP(?), but that's spinning the impeller pretty damn fast.

I agree. I ran the 15lb pulley from ATI and made 11lbs of boost on my 383. I ended up overspinning the blower and grenading it.

This is a street car, occasional drag racing duty (maybe even at the track sometimes ) I doubt it will be spun past 6,000 maybe 6,500 at the most.
Thanks for the imput
