Ultra Dog, yours didnt last very long. How many miles were on it before you did it? Was it intercooled? What kind of fuel system? Stock tuning?

If you didnt pull any timing and were on the stock pump and stuff, I could see thigns letting go very quickly like that ... Or if the car was always driven hard prior to the install ...

 

It had ~117,000 miles at the time, and even though it was intercooled, I am sure it was all about tuning. It also the FMU.

After the rebuild, I tossed the FMU and went with 42# injectors and a decent tune.

I think I am probably gonna go FI and tune VERY conservativly.

 

Mine lasted allmost one full day at 13# on stock lower end. It blew the ring lands off three pistons and launched the dip stick and a few quarts of oil across the room.

 

i've managed 5K miles on D1 with lowest boost pully, twin i/c's, 42#, no fmu, booster fuel pump, conservative dyno tune. 425rwhp. 24mpg on highway! go for it.
