how to figure out boosted compression

I have a forged 383 with 9:1 compression. Its going to be supercharged. Im trying to fiqure out how much boost i can run on 93 octane. I figured a little more than 10 psi but im not sure, i need to figure it out. It could be more, because theres guys out there running 7psi on pump gas on a stock motor. Im just trying to run as much boost as i can still on pump gas

Since boost is a relative term meaning that it is really nothing more than a measure of the restrictions in your system, there is no real rule to follow regarding how much. Generally speaking, 10 psi would seem to be safe, but every F.I. system is slightly different. Ideally, you should at the very least consider either a good quality FMIC or water/alcohol injection...or BOTH. Then tune it in conjunction with a dyno and a wideband. The tune will be most critical.

i was just wondering because i need to pick out a different cam and they ask how much boost im gonna run. I was just trying to get an idea of the most boost i could run so in order to give them a range of boost. I think maybe 10-15 psi. im not sure though. Mainly i dont wont spark knocking. And since ill be on pump gas. I was just wondering if there was a formula to figure out the boosted compression

Im trying to see if one of these would work good with my car or if ill be running to much boost for these cams.

Hope this helps... I am running about 9.5:1 static compression on a 97ss 383 LT1 with AFR heads and a ATI D1 with a 7.6 --> 3.4" pulley ratio. I see about 14 psi on the boost gage. I run 93 octane and timing is set @ 34* @ 100Kpa. No rollback on timing. I have a large spearco IC (Mounted under) and a meth/h2o for the hot months. I have also gone to Evans waterless which looks great to eliminate detonation. I run a large cam for the street... Cam-Motion 231/240*/ .560" lift 114lsa. B.

Youcan deffinitly throw more boost the 10lbs, I see many guys in the 9-9.5 thowing 15 on pump gas and like 19 on race gas. I am 9.78:1 and will be running 12lbs with meth, and a intercooler.

Yeah this is what i llike to see. I like to get examples like this. So i could possibly be looking at running 15 psi on my motor on pump gas. I now need to decide which cam to go with and picking cams is what im bad at.

I would say you should have no issues running 15# on 93 octane, meth, intercooler etc. Look at the boosted rollcall sticky at the top and some peoples setups.
